The $70 million worth Pierce instantly said that there were too many outlets for him to watch to get the updates. From watching highlights on Instagram to hearing other talk shows, Pierce felt he can easily find out ?what?s popping weekly? from other sources. Pierce blamed the recent layoffs, which claimed over 20 high-level jobs, as a consequence of the ‘fact’ that no one watches the network anymore.

?There?s too many other people that can give you the information. There?s too many other people that can update you on what?s going on,? said Pierce. ?So why do I have to go to ESPN??

While one of the co-hosts said that the reason so many people were laid off is that they weren?t showing up to work as much, Pierce maintained that it was because their viewership was in decline. While Pierce?s remarks may hold some merit, the former player?s bitterness against the network could also be due to how they treated him a few years ago.
