Even before he started playing for the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O?Neal holds a deep appreciation and passion for music. Being an artist himself, DJ Diesel has used his acquired fame to promote his work as a DJ and rapper, creating many albums and singles in the process. He’s the only NBA player ever to go platinum with a release. With his wide reach, he has also helped other aspiring artists gain recognition from his audience.

A few hours ago, the 4 time NBA champion took to social media, along with a former Boston Celtics star, to promote a musician whose hit song made waves almost 39 years ago.

Sheila Cecilia Escovedo, more commonly known as Sheila E., is a musician who began her career in the 1970s. Known as the ‘Queen of Percussion’, her music has led to the creation of over 8 studio albums and over 20 singles. Her most famous song, titled ?The Glamorous Life? earned the singer two Grammy Award nominations and three MTV Award nominations.
