It’s been more than two decades since his retirement, yet everything Michael Jordan-related still sells like anything. From products to collectibles, the 6x NBA champ has strongly captured the market. And no matter the price, the buyers for his collectibles are there as long as the item is even remotely related to His Airness‘ legacy. The most recent example of this is one of his trading cards setting a record in selling price.

The Chicago Bulls legend’s trading cards have always been sold at a high price. Even reaching the 6-figure mark on multiple instances. But the most recent one has broken all the records in the department of MJ trading cards and reached a 7-figure mark. “Final Sale Price on the 2003 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Michael Jordan Signed Logoman: $2,928,000… The All-Time Record for any Michael Jordan Card!” @GoldinCo posted on X.

Goldin is a provider of online auction services that facilitates buying and selling of exclusive collectibles and memorabilia. These are not limited to just sports but pop culture, entertainment, and history as well. As per Goldin’s official website, the auctioning platform has so far sold over $2 Billion in collectibles, which includes multiple MJ cards as well.

In fact, as stated above, it’s not the first instance the 6x NBA champ’s trading card reached a 6-figure mark. Some other cards with high selling prices include 2008/09 Skybox Metal Universe Michael Jordan #23 ($222,630), 1998/99 Upper Deck “Jordan Jersey Autographs” #MJx-GJ ($288,000), and many others. So the craze for His Airness is clear among the collectors of trading cards, but one man stands apart among all of them.

The high-end collector who owns about 4000 Michael Jordan cards

According to a 2020 article by the Chicago Tribune, the co-founder and CEO of New York-based ‘Flatiron Health’, Nat Turner is believed to have the most prolific collection of Michael Jordan cards. According to a sports collectibles expert, Nick Cepero, Turner ranks among the top modern collectors. “Especially with Jordan… probably one of the best,” Cepero said, as per the Chicago Tribune.

It is worth mentioning that Turner had amassed a fortune by starting and selling a variety of businesses. In fact, he also made it to Forbes’ 30 under 30 list in 2015. However, as a collector, he pursues not just high-end MJ cards but low-end cards as well.

He has stated that there are around 6000 Michael Jordan cards that exist, and he owns around 4000 of them. “My goal is to have one of every Jordan card… And I’m pretty close,” he said. Meanwhile, the collector who went for the recent card with a 7-figure mark selling price is yet to be revealed.
