Charles Barkley, at the pinnacle of an all-star basketball career, had a dream during the summer of 1996: to wear the revered Red, Black, and White jersey that is synonymous with Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. Looking 27 years ahead, it appears as if that dream would soon materialize, but in a different form. After three decades, Charles Barkley’s classic sneakers will be back in 2023 bearing the iconic colors of the Chicago Bulls.

By this time, Barkley was in his 13th NBA season and on his 4th team, which was the Phoenix Suns. He longed to be part of a team that could match the unbeatable Michael Jordan who had just earned his fourth championship with the Bulls.

Barkley had said that he wanted to go and play for the Bulls even when it would cost him money. But fate had other plans. The Bulls did not have the means necessary to get Barkley, which led to Barkley going to the New York Knicks or Houston Rockets.

From 2023, Barkley’s link with the Bulls will be reignited. Nike has brought back the throwback edition of its famous sneaker, the Nike CB 94, which will be released in the familiar team colors- red, black, and white- that symbolize the Chicago Bulls.

These shoes honor Barkley’s legendary career in basketball and celebrate the man himself. Thick turned black leather, pure Gym Red suede underlay, and patented air bubble unit – it is the DNA of the Bull’s spirit. These sneakers comprise both a sense of nostalgia and the latest innovation with their updated technology and lightweight.

The Unveiling of the Nike CB 94.

Nike is bringing back the CB 94, designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1994 in homage to the outlandish style of play and style of Chuck Barkley. The Black/Purple/White edition has already hit the market, but it’s the Black/Gym Red colorway that represents the best career of the player associated with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets.

This release comes when the Nike CB 94 will celebrate its 30th anniversary in mid-2024. Sold in full sizes at $170, the sneakers are expected to hit the Nike SNKRS App and select Nike retailers. It’s a chance for fans of the game of basketball and fans of the players to imagine what could have happened if Charles Barkley had put on the Bulls uniform beside Michael Jordan.

Although Barkley did not get the chance to play his dream of Bulls in 1996, the release of these famous shoes confirms the player left a lasting legacy in the game of basketball and remains an outstanding figure in the sport’s history.
