Charles Barkley has been famous for almost four decades now. The insane longevity of his fame is a result of his glorious NBA career and after that, his work as an NBA analyst on TNT. Although NBA legends transitioning into TV personalities is not a rare phenomenon, Sir Charles is among those who have made their mark.

Despite being a relevant figure on TV for over 23 years, another NBA veteran recently overshadowed Barkley’s thunder. The 60-year-old lost the numero uno position to a relatively younger ex-NBA player despite his seniority in experience.

Barkley is a part of arguably the most entertaining show on TV, built around sports. The NBA on TNT crew is an absolute fan favorite and has held its position at the top for a long time. Barkley first joined the panel back in 2000, right after his retirement from the league. Over the years, the show has only added to the charm by bringing in the NBA’s favorite giant, Shaquille O’Neal. Apart from these two, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson provide a great balance to the show and overall, it’s a great treat for fans. However, despite being a fan favorite, Charles Barkley is not ranked in the top position of the best former athletes-turned-media-personality list.

The list features the likes of Matt Barnes, Stephen Jackson, Shaq, and others. However, if there were one name that people would think could be in the top position, it would’ve been Sir Charles. As it turns out, the 60-year-old is placed second on the list. The 15-man list was voted on by the fans and yet, Barkley could not make it to the top position. JJ Redick, who is relatively new in the media business when compared to Barkley, pushed the 11-time All-Star to second position.

Other NBA veterans on the top 15 list

The list has focused on ex-players who are involved in the media world through TV and/or podcasts. After Redick and Barkley, Shaq has gained the third position on the list based on fan votes. Taking the fourth position on the list is another member of the TNT crew, Kenny Smith. The list also features Richard Jefferson, Jalen Rose, Reggie Miller, and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors.
