The Rodman family drama has the Internet gripped. Trinity Rodman dove deep into her strained relationship with her famous father on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The very next day, Dennis Rodman himself responded to his daughter. The Worm laid out pictures of his moments together with his youngest two kids, Trinity and DJ Rodman with a length post. He seems to directly address some of the claims Trinity made. Pretty soon, the Internet had opinions.

The 22-year-old Washington Spirit forward laid it bare on the podcast when she said, “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing elseHearing his voice is painful.”

Rodman responded to his daughter in a heartfelt Instagram post where he wrote, “Sorry I wasn’t the Dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still Try and Never will Stop.” It accompanied a video of pictures Dennis had with Trinity and DJ, his children with his ex, Michelle Moyer.

Trinity also alleged that Dennis didn’t pay child support after he divorced Moyer. She claimed she lived out of a car with her mom and brother due to lack of money. Trinity went on to become the youngest athlete to get selected in the 2021 NWSL draft at 18. DJ Rodman was signed with the NBA G-League until November 2024.

Trinity’s fans hailed her for opening up and making it on her own. Now, since Dennis’ post, his followers are chiming in.

The Rodmans take it to the Internet

Someone commented under Dennis Rodman’s post, “Tell her not the internet.” He responded with, “I tried kids love the internet brother.” So here the Rodmans stand, playing their estrangement out on online.

Referencing Rodman’s repeated promises that he won’t stop trying to reach out to Trinity, one fan told him, “Don’t quit. And I know you’re not a quitter. She loves and you love her. Time is the most valuable thing we have and you both have plenty left to share.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dennis Rodman's public apology genuine, or just another play for attention from the spotlight?

Have an interesting take?

Someone, like this Instagram user who wrote, “I remember your Hall of Fame speech. U admitted everything to your kids,” felt the post was a harkening to his Hall of Fame induction in 2006. In a very emotional, self-deprecating speech, Rodman calls himself out.

Referring to his then wife, Michelle Moyer and their young kids, he said “I haven’t been a great father and haven’t been a great husband. I can’t lie about that. She’s tolerated everything from me for 11 years. She’s been a mother and a father. I have one regret. … I wish I was a better father. If anyone asks if I have any regrets in your career being a basketball player, I say I have one regret: I wish I was a better father.” His raw admission about fatherhood made this one of the greatest speeches in HoF history.

There were also those who weren’t satisfied with Rodman’s response. One said, “It’s giving manipulation “the dad you wanted me to be” instead of NEEDED. You post these pics in your defense but don’t show the many probably missed calls from her or the fact that fathers like you only try when the kids are older since it’s ‘easier.'”

Rodman’s girlfriend, Yella Yella, responded to this commenter in the exact tone. “It’s giving don’t know wtf u talking about.”

Yet there were those who said, “his post alone affirms* his daughters statement that he only does things for attention maybe he should reach out to her personally instead of doing stuff for the public.”

There’s no pleasing everyone. But as many encouraged Rodman to focus his energy on his kids, one rightfully stated, “Cant change the past, but you can work on the future.”
