Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife Shaunie Henderson is famous for the hit TV show Basketball Wives. She is also an executive producer of the reality series which revolves around the everyday lives of women in romantic relationships with athletes in professional basketball. Over the years, the show has received both positive and negative feedback from fans. Recently, former NBA player John Salley revealed an interesting detail during an appearance on Vlad TV.
During one instance of the sit-down, the host informed Salley about ex-pro Sebastian Telfair’s comments about the divorce rate in the NBA. Telfair had stated that 9 out of 10 marriages in the league end in divorce as he gave examples of Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, and so forth. So, he argued that the stars have to be aware that their partner’s energy might change once their career is over.
The presenter noted that Telfair, from his own experience and from what he saw, dissed all NBA wives. Hearing this, John Salley couldn’t refrain from sharing his experience with the Basketball Wives show. The 3x NBA champion started, “Yeah, I hosted Basketball Wives this month.”

The host was surprised and asked, “Well, how many of them are actually wives though?” Salley replied, “Uh one!” The anchor could not contain his laughter and said, “It’s such a fake name for a show. They call it Basketball Wives and there’s one wife!”
In response to the statement, the former Chicago Bulls player noted that the show used to have more wives. Salley then sympathized with Telfair’s struggles but disagreed with the 2004 All-American MVP’s claims about women in romantic relationships with NBA players.
Sebastian Telfair’s comments
Sebastian Telfair did not hold back during his appearance on Vlad TV. He argued that when he was in the league, the divorce rate was 7 out of 10 and now it is 9 out of 10.

“Dudes gotta understand that pretty girl that’s on the side of you right now, in that nice house, her energy will shift. Nine out of ten. Kevin Garnett got a divorce. Shaq got a divorce. Michael Jordan got a divorce. So I wanna tell, this is for all the players. I’ll be the bad guy, I’ll be the one. Like, what Shorty saying next to us ain’t it,” Sebastian Telfair said.
