Kevin Garnett is one of the best two-way players to have ever played in the NBA. Apart from his great skills, Garnett was also infamous for his trash talking. Known to rile up opponents and teammates alike, KG has never refrained from voicing his opinions. While that was the case throughout his career, the 2008 NBA champion has mellowed down after retirement. Garnett is more inclined to give flowers than abuse these days, as seen recently when he shared a clip of a former teammate who was once a foe.

Known for his immense athleticism despite his big frame, the Big Ticket changed the landscape for power forwards. Becoming one of the few high schoolers at the time to make it to the NBA, KG paved the way for individuals like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, who too made the jump to the NBA after high school.

Kevin Garnett recently took to Instagram to share a reel featuring former North Carolina stars Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse. Part of the 1995 NBA draft alongside KG, the two men had long stints in the league, with Wallace, in particular, having quite the rivalry with Garnett.

Sharing a clip of the two dominating during their collegiate days, Garnett quoted the video saying, “Yoo this wasn’t fair. I’m telling you“. Suiting up for the Tar Heels, Stackhouse and Wallace took the team all the way to the NCAA Final Four. After this, the two declared for the NBA draft and were taken as the no.3 and no.4 overall picks, respectively.

Reposting a reel showcasing the duo’s dominance, KG was full of praise for the pair, displaying the 90s era of college basketball. The North Carolina stars were simply a step above the rest, as seen in the video shared by Garnett.

Playing in the NBA for well over 15+ years, it’s no wonder that the two suiting up for the same team was deemed unfair. Nonetheless, after getting drafted back-to-back in the 1995 NBA draft, Rasheed Wallace and Kevin Garnett were destined for comparison.

Garnett and Wallace former foes turned teammates

Both stars were big men resembling similar styles and loved playing one another. Suiting up for the Portland Trail Blazers during his early days, Wallace was a common fixture for KG’s Minnesota. Averaging 18 points against the Trail Blazers during that time, Garnett was mostly triumphant in his battles with the North Carolina alumnus.

Rasheed Wallace did seem to have the last laugh when he won the 2004 NBA Finals with the Detroit Pistons. This was a high ground he held until 2008 when KG joined him in the Eastern Conference and picked up a ring with the Boston Celtics. It was in Boston that the two became teammates, as the once foes were forced to become friends.
