NBA players are extremely famous for their generosity. Most players from around the association have made it a point to give back to the community. So, the epitome of basketball, MJ, joining the list of players high on charity wasn’t exactly a shocker. While every person has their own method of giving back, Jordan has always been subdued about his contributions. Years after sending a singular fan home happy, it seems like there’s another fan that needs placation.

While his career remains impressive as ever, there is an argument for the fandom having superseded it. Whether you point to revisionist history, or motivational speakers using him as an example, the myth of MJ might be getting bigger than the legend of the man.

In one such instance, a fan paid a little over $34,000 for a Michael Jordan rookie card. Boasting the MJ signature, the card was an addition to an ever-growing collection. Ed Yakich spent $34,200 dollars on the card. But, tragedy struck.

The auction house, PWCC, wasn’t moving matters along. However, after a call to Better Call Behnken, the process became infinitely quicker. While his card got the PSA/DNA certifier, the same company made a different claim about the signature’s authenticity.

As a result of the call to the BCB, Yakich got good news quickly. Giving his request priority, Ed received confirmation that he would receive the full refund. Thankfully, the incident was rectified without much of a scene. Or, we know the former owner of the Hornets wouldn’t be shy of getting his own hands dirty. At least, that was the case 30 years ago.

Jordan makes sure a fan gets his rightful due

NBA games see a lot of scope for audience participation. With timeouts, coaches’ challenges, and intervals, the game presents a lot of opportunities for the crowd to interact. While features like Kiss Cams and shirt-toss are increasingly common, one remains ever popular.

However, the Bulls tried to deny his rightful claim, even trying to liquidate the process to a 20-year period. But, Michael Jordan and the Bulls had none of it. Eventually, the team was forced to pay up due to the added pressure from its team’s players.

For a man who spends around $100 million on charity, the sum was negligible. But, it is a testament to the generosity of Jordan to not only remember the man but actively work towards ensuring he got his rightful sum.
