When we crossed our fingers for a collaboration between Shaquille O’Neal and Charlie Puth, this was not what we were expecting. Instead of writing lyrics or jamming on a piano, they’re up to hilarious shenanigans. Shaq and Puth were both performers at the ‘TikTok In The Mix’ music festival on December 10. Behind the scenes, it was all fun and games.

Shortly after performing his headbanger of a set streamed live on TikTok, Maestro Diesel left his Instagram followers in splits with a hilarious post. Much later, fans discovered through the “Attention” singer’s TikTok update that Puth was the eyewitness to the Shaq-nanigans. It was hilarious, to say the least.

In the popstar’s TikTok, O’Neal is getting coached by Puth. “Can you do something like…” Puth hums something that’s immediately overpowered by Shaq’s grating violin dragging.

With some coaching, Shaq seems to pull a hip-hop beat on the violin that makes Puth go, “Hell yeah! That’s it!”

As per Puth, his 7’1″ instrumentalist is, “Only the best for a song by me.” The jury is still out on that though. Come on, Puth, give us a real Shaq-tastic collaboration.

Shaquille O’Neal didn’t give away that he was getting Charlie Puth to give him lessons when he displayed his skills on Instagram. Declaring himself the “Big black maestro,” he performed a haunting cover of Boccherini Minuet No. 6.

It was really lauded cellist, Mike Block’s rendition dubbed over O’Neal’s soul-staring performance. His 33 million followers were also convinced that it was really a cello on Shaq’s shoulder because of how accurately-sized it seemed on the giant. Professional violinists offered the big man violin lessons to pull it off. Now we know Puth, gifted on the piano, was secretly pulling the strings.
