$30 Million Doesn’t Free Carmelo Anthony’s Ex-Wife La La from Mother’s Strict Rule

When did you start work? Maybe early 20s or late 10s or whenever the situation demanded. But then, for the Chi star La La Anthony, it was never easy. She was just 15 years old when she started working. From tattoo shops to an internship at HOT 97.5 in Atlanta, Anthony has worked several jobs throughout their career. She married former NBA player Carmelo Anthony, and the two share a son, Kiyan. A mother and a businesswoman, she knows how to balance both! Now she is featured in some of the biggest TV projects. Should be quite liberal, right? Oh, you are caught off guard. Despite her million-dollar net worth, Anthony reveals how her mother won’t stop giving her one piece of financial advice.

Looking back at growing up with her sibling, the actress revealed that her mother raised them on her own. She was young when her parents divorced. Anthony recalled how their family might not have been wealthy, but they were rich in love. So, she worked hard and took on various jobs on her own. She wanted to help her mother. However, things have changed for the better now. Despite that, Anthony shares how her mother always asks her not to buy expensive stuff for her. How? She always suggests that she check the prices before buying. Anthony reveals that she gets annoyed sometimes and has to remind her mother that she now has enough money to spend on such things. 

“She was always talking about like saving your money and looking at prices it’s to the point where it’s annoying at this point I’m like Ma it’s okay we can afford the cup for $3.99. It’s all right she’s still like ‘This is too expensive.’ She’s always worried about prices,” Anthony said on Richer Lives.

While La La has an emerging business, her son, Kiyan, is also building a résumé with NIL deals and his own brand. However, the actress, who has a net worth of $30 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), appreciates the financial knowledge she received from her mother. “But she did teach me you know to be mindful of how you spend and take care of your money and it’s definitely lessons that I keep with me to this day,” she added. 

Anthony recalled that she worked different jobs because she wanted to help her mother. When the host asked her which job was one of the most interesting, she had an interesting take.

La La Anthony revealed her past interesting job 

La La recalled that she worked as a receptionist at a tattoo shop. She remembered how, during her job, she saw some of the craziest things. This wasn’t the only tattoo shop she worked for. “Seeing crazy stuff like the tattoo artist spelling a name wrong and it’s already tattooed on somebody and like it was craziness but I was just so independent and because I knew my mom was working so hard to take care of us I didn’t want to ask her for anything because I knew that she was doing her best so I was always about trying to get out there and get my own money,” she added.

It didn’t stop there. She worked for Baskin-Robbins, a sneaker store, and the list could go on. Anthony shot to fame when she debuted as a host on MTV. She was a VJ for MTV’s Direct Effect and Total Request Live. Later, she started her cosmetic line, Motives Cosmetics, along with partners Loren Ridinger, Amber Ridinger-McLaughlin, and Thalía. She also has her hair product line named “Inala.” She had partnerships with Airbnb and so much more.

Apart from her business ventures, she has continued working on the big screen. You might remember her from Power and BMF. She also took up the role of host at the Met Gala last year. Her years of hard work are greatly appreciated by fans. Apart from learning various skills, she believes that her different jobs have also taught her the importance of independence.
