Is Luka Don?i? becoming the NBA's biggest cry baby, or are the refs really out to get him?

As good a player as a complainer, Luka Doncic has received multiple advice to stop it with the refs. The most recent tip, but not his first, is from Gilbert Arenas. The ex-NBA star believes it’s high time that the 5x All-Star commits to himself on his own to do better and decide the areas where he needs improvement.

Meanwhile, Arenas also pointed out the consequences in the long run if Luka Doncic does not do so. People don’t understand is once that becomes a habit of yours, you don’t realize you’re doing it until you see yourself doing it,” he said. The ex-Wizards star believes the Dallas Mavericks guard should adopt the Michael Conley approach.

Notably, Conley earned a name for himself for his respect for the game. He received just one technical foul throughout his career, which also got rescinded by the NBA the next day. Further in the podcast, Gil explained how getting emotional about something is of no use if the result is still going to be the same.

“They (refs) are never gonna change their decision… If they didn’t see the foul, they didn’t see the foul…” the ex-Wizards star said. Meanwhile, Brandon Jennings pointed out that it’s hard to change the European mentality as that’s how they play. They just cry. They cry. But they call us the crybabies. Weird,” Arenas added.

Notably, this is not the first instance that Gil pointed out Doncic’s flaw. In fact, in the previous instance, he came down heavily on ‘El Matador’ for his conduct. “The problem with Luka is that it’s not even technical worthy, you’re just b*tching,” he said on the podcast. In this instance as well, Arenas tried using Conley as an example for the 5x All-Star.

Even Mavericks’ staff wants Luka Doncic to change his approach with the refs

As per the reports, the Mavs coaching staff have “begged” and “pleaded” that Doncic should no longer approach the refs on the calls he finds not right as per his perception. This comes because of the extent the Mavs guard has gone with refs.

Is Luka Don?i? becoming the NBA's biggest cry baby, or are the refs really out to get him?

Have an interesting take?

In one instance of a foul, he showed the infamous money sign to ref Kevin Scott. And this demeanor has not gone well with multiple entities from the NBA community. Yet another one among these is Bill Simmons. In an episode of his own podcast, Simmons stated despite all the love and respect for Doncic people are starting to get annoyed by some parts of him.

“The amount of times he spends bitc*ing at the refs in person it’s unbelievable,” Bill said. He further stated he does not remember anyone else biting at the refs more than Luka Doncic. So maybe now it’s time for the 5x All Star to take Gilbert Arenas’ advice before this turns into a ‘habit’ for him.
