Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, and many more were a part of this team. There were claims that this group represented the best sports team ever put together.

On the other hand, they formed the Redeem Team to reclaim the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This team consisted of players like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Kobe Bryant. The Redeem Team united with a common purpose and embarked on a mission to restore the nation’s basketball pride and reestablish the United States as a force to be reckoned with on the global stage.

ESPN put forth a hypothetical matchup against these 2 great teams. The two Olympic champion teams have split the NBA fan base down the middle.

Michael Jordan or LeBron James’ Olympic Gold?

While some fans took the side of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant led-team, others rooted for the Dream Team. The rift between the fans was evident in the comments section. 

A few fans claimed that a team led by LeBron and Kobe couldn’t be beaten. “Kobe and Bron cooking,” wrote one fan. Another fan commented, “Kobe and bron together? Nuff said”. However, many fans felt the Redeem team wouldn’t hold a candle to the MJ-led Dream Team.

Comments like, “Dream Team in 5,” “redeem is not hanging w them yall trippin,” “Real ball players know the dream team would cook the redeem team” showcased the fans’ support for the 1992 Gold Medal winners.
