Michael Jordan is one of the most recognizable figures on the planet, and even though he mostly stays out of the public eye, his name still holds weight. So, when a supposed sighting of MJ at a car dealership went viral, you’d think the sports world would go nuts, right? Well… not quite. Because this wasn’t just any sighting—it was an MJ look-alike, and the internet had a field day with it.
The official Instagram account for J&S AutoHaus (Exotic Car Experts) shared an IG video featuring a Michael Jordan look-alike. The fact that the employee from the dealership was able to convince someone else that it’s the real 6x NBA champ hints towards the extent of similarities. “That’s him, bro,” the guy, mistaking the look-alike for real MJ, said.
Further in the video, the dealership employee approached the fake Michael Jordan as if he were the real deal. “Mike. What’s going on, bro… You’re not here for the Porsche, are you,” he said. Even the His Airness look-alike played along and stated he wanted everything on the lot.

The video continued on the set premise of the conversation and ended without either of the guys breaking character. “Thank you so much for coming out here, bro. Mike. Michael Jordan, guys. It’s crazy,” the dealership employee said at the end of the video. Now, most fans would know how the internet works—when something looks off, people are quick to roast it, and this was no exception.

From clever wordplay to pop culture references, fans had a field day calling out the obvious difference between the real MJ and the mystery man at the car dealership.
Fans react to fake Michael Jordan’s viral social media appearance
The internet did what it does best—roasting the situation to perfection. One fan summed it up with a classic online joke: “MJ from Temu,” Basically, this comment was saying, “This ain’t the Jordan we ordered.”

Then there was one fan who pointed out that we already have another famous Michael Jordan—and no, he never played for the Chicago Bulls. They were talking about Creed and Black Panther star Michael Bakari Jordan. “Michael C. Jordan, since there’s already a B,” the user joked.
But the real comedy gold came from fans who turned Jordan’s name into some hilarious wordplay. “That’s Jichael Mordan,” one person commented. And it’s hard not to laugh at how perfectly that sums up the situation.
But while most fans were in roast mode, some took a more logical approach. They pointed out that Michael Jordan is notoriously private and rarely makes public appearances. One fan reminded everyone of his 1989 GQ interview, where MJ admitted that being hounded by photographers and reporters made going out in public stressful. So, the odds of him randomly strolling into a dealership? Pretty much zero. As one fan put it, “Y’all know Mike don’t go out in public… we ain’t seen him since he retired.”

And because no viral moment is complete without a pop culture reference, The Office fans jumped in too. One user hilariously dropped the iconic Dwight Schrute line: “Identity theft is not a joke, Jim. Millions of families suffer every year.” If you know, you know.
Once again, the internet proved that when it comes to viral moments, it never, ever misses.
