NBA athletes are prone to outbursts. Whether realistic or insane, they are wired to approach each challenge in a certain way. While some might claim that it’s a hot take, the truth of the matter is an NBA star wouldn’t reach such heights if they didn’t bet on themselves. So, when Paul Pierce made remarks about Dwyane Wade, it drew the ire of fans and players alike. However, those comments don’t take away Pierce’s glorious legacy. As his championship-winning teammate was quick to remind fans.

While Wade himself hasn’t addressed the comments, his former teammate called cap on Pierce’s take. But the 2008 Finals MVP has now found support.

The 2007-08 Boston Celtics were the original superteam. After spending the first 10+ years in Minnesota, The Big Ticket needed a change, and Boston was quick to reach out. In 2007, the trade was complete. Kevin Garnett joined Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and youngster Rajon Rondo on the Celtics.

While some moves take time, this one paid immediate dividends. The very next season, the Celtics won the NBA title, its first in 20 years. And, it seems like the loyalty remains strong between the teammates. As a guest on the It Is What It Is podcast, Pierce got to talking about a different Paul. When asked about the praise for Paul George, the Celtics Champion had a different perspective than most.

“Yeah, I think it’s cool for some kids to think that he’s their GOAT. Am I better than Paul George? I’ll leave that question to everybody else. Who would you rather have? So like, let’s change that narrative moving forward. Don’t discredit me, don’t discredit my career. Because I’m HIM.”

Garnett was in full support of the Truth’s comments, further hyping him up. “TALK YO TALK P…Let me know bro… TF THEY THOUGHT”. It must have been a nice change of pace for Pierce, who caught a lot of slack for his DWade comments.

Celtics-Heat rivalry renewed after Dwyane Wade comments?

In the same episode, Pierce also made a shocking declaration about his rival Wade. For years, the two stars competed in the Eastern Conference, going at it multiple times. While Flash?ended up with a longer list of accolades, Pierce wasn’t willing to back down.

In a shocking claim, Pierce said that his trophy collection would be just as good if he had teammates of similar stature, like Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James. But Wade’s brother, and Miami Heat legend, Udonis Haslem immediately jumped in. With Garnett and Haslem also getting involved, are we seeing a renewal of a decade-old rivalry?
