Writer and research analyst Billy Oppenheimer recently took to Twitter to share a post with his 90,500 followers. He attached a video to the same, showing Dwyane Wade engaged in a conversation with Tiger Woods back in 2021.
Recalling his night before Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals, Wade knew that the outcome of the match would be decided by free throws. ?No matter what happens, it?s going to come down to free throws,? he admitted.
With 1.9 seconds left in overtime of Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals, Dwyane Wade went to the free throw line.
Wade & the Heat were down by 1. The series was tied 2-2.

During practice sessions, the player had his cousin help him out. ?I had him right in my ear, talking sh*t to me? recalled Dwyane Wade. The 200 free throws he hit that night motivated him to perform in a similar fashion during the match.
?It?s like, your confidence comes from your work,? said Wade. “You’ve done it over and over. You’ve seen yourself do it.”
Hitting two free throws, the 13x NBA All-Star would go on to win the game by just one point. It gave his team the series lead which they eventually won in Game 6. It would be?Flash‘s first ring and Shaquille O’Neal‘s fourth. But the researcher had a different take on the matter.

The researcher first stated that the former player used the evidence of the previous night?s practice to do better when facing the real situation. He quoted American writer Ryan Holiday?s words, ?Belief in yourself is overrated. Generate evidence.?
This led the research analyst to believe that an individual gets confidence from his previous work. The second takeaway stated that Wade?s ?analysis? of confidence coming from previous work is something that is deemed ?scientifically accurate?.
Oppenheimer would go on to credit the work of Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett, a neuroscientist who has spent over 30 years examining the origins of emotions in the brain. Quoting a paragraph from her book ?How Emotions Are Made: The Secret Life of the Brain?, Oppenheimer talks about how the brain utilizes the individual?s waking moment to skim through the ?library of past experiences? and land at the moment that perfectly matches the one that is being experienced presently.
