A’ja Wilson was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the second successive year. Taking to his Twitter account, the 3x NBA champion expressed his thrill at the Las Vegas Aces star’s achievement and the impact she has made.

His congratulatory message read, ‘We’re witnessing one of the greatest basketball players do work! Congratulations on getting that 2x DPOY.’ While Wade praised the 27-year-old star for her massive achievement, his Chicago Sky were eliminated from the Playoffs by Wilson’s Aces recently. And both the games were blowouts.

 

Despite tasting the bitter taste of loss by the team, the former Miami Heat star didn’t forget to send his warm wishes to the Aces forward. Athletes and team owners alike experience the thrill of winning and the sting of loss. However, the 13x All-Star player’s gesture yet again shows that he is one of the biggest supporters of women’s basketball and will continue to do so in the future.

He previously also stated how the WNBA is going to take the world by storm. Looking at the Aces star, it is safe to say that he is not wrong.

A’ja Wilson has won the DPOY twice in a row

Wilson is one of the best players in the league. With the likes of her, Candace Parker, Kelsey Plum, and Chelsea Gray on the roster, the Aces are not even expected to break a sweat. And that is proving to be the case as the Las Vegas franchise has comfortably won all games in the postseason so far. Like Wade mentioned before, more wonders are sure to unravel. Winning her 2nd consecutive DPOY is no mean feat, though.

Wilson also gave credit to her fellow teammates and coach. Taking to her Twitter, she wrote, “Winning in college, I was like, ‘Ok, cool.’ But winning at this level feels different because these are pros, world-class elite women. I’m excited to share it with my teammates.”
