After a successful two seasons with the Utah Jazz, Dwyane has now set his targets on the WNBA. Rumors have circulated for some time now about his interest in the women’s league. There were even whispers about which team he would ultimately be joining. Now, we know.

A few days ago, Wade took to Twitter to announce that he will be acquiring a stake in the WNBA team Chicago Sky. The exact percentage of his stake has not yet been revealed.

This weekend, Dwyane Wade attended the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas. He was accompanied by his wife, Gabrielle Union.

During the event, he took some time out to do an interview with ESPN?s ?WNBA Countdown crew?. Diving headfirst into the latest news, one of the co-hosts asked the 13? NBA All-Star about the type of resources that he would bring to the team. Wade revealed that they have a lot of work to do.

Drawing a comparison between teams like the Las Vegas Aces, Wade said that the Chicago Sky needs to catch up fast to reach their standards. And he’s willing to put more money behind the cause.

Wade explained his plans, ?I look forward to going to Chicago, knocking on those doors. Sitting with Nadia (Rawlinson), sitting with Michael (Alter), asking the right questions and asking for things we need, the support.?

?We ain?t going nowhere and we need the support of the city,??expressed the Chicago native.

While they can?t make all the necessary changes overnight, Wade hopes to bring the team to a level that it hasn?t seen since the WNBA?s inception 26 years ago.

Wade dedicates the WNBA Team to his mother

In a prior interview with ESPN, Wade revealed that he got the inspiration to acquire his hometown team from his mother. This happened because she took him to see his first Chicago Sky home game. Her passion became contagious. And the rest is history.

Wade took to his Instagram story to dedicate his latest acquisition to his mother, JoLinda Wade. “[She] was a fan of the Chicago Sky before I became a fan of the Chicago Sky,” confessed Wade during the interview.

This latest dedication is a heartwarming moment between the mother and son.
