Once a legend, always a legend. In basketball, Allen Iverson finds himself in that sort of rarefied air. Due to his popularity in the Philadelphia region, any appearance from the 4x scoring champion gets the crowd going. That scene unfolded as the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Charlotte Hornets. But his appearance also led to a unique exchange in the commentary booth.

The always energetic Eric Collins was in high spirits watching the legend make an appearance in the crowd. Coincidentally, Dell Curry, long-time Charlotte legend and father of NBA superstar Stephen Curry was also at the desk. The elder Curry would immediately crown Iverson as “one of the best crossovers ever”. But that wasn’t enough for Collins. According to the exuberant voice of the Hornets, limiting him as one of them was straight “disrespectful”.

While Eric would make a case for AI to be “the best crossover ever”, Dell wasn’t ready to concede the point just yet. Refraining from further comments, “Eh, that’s alright”, Eric would continue to harp on about the merits of his case claiming, “he originated.”

There is certainly an argument for AI. During his rookie season, his legendary crossover on Michael Jordan put the move on the national scene and made it a feat worthy of emulation. Since then, many other maestros of dribbling have taken to the court. However, with his son part of the same discussion, perhaps, papa Curry has a different answer in mind.

While modern-day greats like Steph and Kyrie Irving warrant a nominee, the list is endless for the all-time greats. Old heads might like an argument for the Isiah Thomas and Jason Williams of the world. Jamal Crawford redefined the beauty of the move, and could still be averaging north of 20 in the game due to his excellence.

Allen Iverson witnesses a historic night by the 76ers

Behind Joel Embiid‘s 10th-straight 30-10 game, joining Shaquille O’Neal and Moses Malone as the only 3 players in history to do so, Philly would blow out the Hornets by a historic 53-point margin. The loss became the largest in Charlotte franchise history.

Despite the James Harden saga and trade, the team has yet to miss a beat in their race back to the top. Could this finally be the year where The Process comes to fruition and goes back to the NBA Finals?
