The verdict for Draymond Green is finally out, and the NBA has decided to suspend the 4x champion ‘indefinitely’. While fans and the media are calling for Green to change his behavior for the sake of his team, a Washington Wizards legend believes that moving away from who he is can diminish his impact as a player.

Having accepted that Draymond Green is a double-edged sword, Gilbert Arenas is now concerned about Green’s contribution to his team if he decides to change himself.

In a recent episode of Nightcap, Gilbert Arenas and Shannon Sharpe discussed Draymond Green getting suspended. The league has still not decided on a set number of games for Green to serve, but rather is making Green pass an evaluation that proves to the authorities that Green can meet the conditions put forward by the NBA and the Golden State Warriors.

One thing that Sharpe wasn’t a fan of was hearing that Green was still allowed to practice with the team, according to an NBA insider. To this, Sharpe said, “So you mean to tell me that I can commit a crime and I can continue to work, continue to go do what I do, and not go to jail?

While Shannon Sharpe agreed with the rest of the NBA world in calling for Draymond Green to end his on-court antics, Gilbert Arenas asserted that it is much more complicated than that.

Arenas said, “You can’t turn it off. That’s the problem. You have to be able to take the good with the bad. No different than Dennis Rodman. If you turn off what you don’t like, you might turn off what you do like.

So Arenas believes that Green could be less valuable than he already is to the Warriors if he stops being the enforcer that he has been his whole life. With all his actions getting magnified, it seems like Green would need to relearn how to approach the game of basketball, as his usual methods won’t be tolerated anymore.

The Warriors need Green more than ever.

After his first five-game suspension of the season, Green played just six games before getting ejected again. During his five-game suspension and the two games in which he got ejected, the Warriors had a 2-5 record. This goes to show that Green is a vital part of the team.

Over the course of the season, the Warriors have had a losing record and are currently 11th in the West. While the chances of them making the playoffs are getting slimmer day by day, losing Green is much more detrimental than it seems. Only time will tell how long before Green gets back on the court, but the Warriors need Green to make the playoffs.
