Players across the league came dressed up for their games, celebrating Halloween in a myriad different ways. As spooky season has come to an end, a Los Angeles Lakers legend is reminded of his time in the city. The 7x champion shared his first experience celebrating Halloween in California, at a mansion known for its parties.
Certain players make a living out of being in the right place at the right time. Whether in an organization on the brink of winning a championship or at an open spot on the court where the ball is about to come, Robert Horry was always there. This happened off the court as well, as he was one of the few who was present at one of the wildest Halloween parties ever.

In a recent episode of the Big Shot Bob Podcast, Robert Horry was talking about what it’s like to celebrate Halloween as an adult. He revealed that over the past couple of years, he has not dressed up, but when he does, he takes it all the way. The co-hosts said that, as an adult, you need a party to dress up too. This made Horry talk about the lifestyle in Los Angeles. Horry talked about how there is a party in every corner when you are in LA.
Horry said, “So many guys dressed up as women. So many women were half-naked. And I was like, s**t. I am gonna sit right here and enjoy the show. They were all out here, man. It was bananas.”
This led the 7x champion to recall his experience at the Playboy Mansion for a Halloween party. He revealed that it was a wild celebration unlike any other, as many people working for Playboy also showed up to the party.
He said, “That was an experience right there, boy. I am telling you. I guess all the Playboy bunnies they all just used body paint. That’s all they used. They didn’t have any costumes on, they all just had body paint.”
The mansion was sold in 2016 for $100 million. Thus, parties like this are just a thing of the past. Horry is one of the lucky few who got the opportunity to experience it while it was still there.
Horry’s legendary stint with the Lakers
Robert Horry was traded to the Lakers in 1997. During his seven seasons in LA, he averaged just 6.3 ppg but won three championships. His ability to make shots and score on the biggest stage at the brightest moments earned him his nickname, ‘Big Shot Rob’.

The moment that stands out the most is Robert Horry’s game-winner against the Sacramento Kings in the 2002 Western Conference Finals. He was again exactly in the right place at the right time.
Down by 2 with 10 seconds left on the clock, both Kobe and Shaq missed the layup attempt. The ball is tipped back to the three-point line and straight to the hands of Horry. He drills in a three-pointer to win the Game 4 match.
