Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant players to have ever played in the NBA. Truly one of his kind, the league has never been the same ever since Shaq made his debut. Athletic and powerful with explosiveness to match, the 4x NBA champion paved the way for players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dwight Howard to dominate as they have. One can’t help but wonder if there was any player to do it better than the Los Angeles Lakers legend. A question the man himself seems to be pondering, as the former MVP posted a snippet asking the same question.

Nominating Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul Jabbar as his most likely candidates, Shaq started an interesting argument.

Posting a collage of Wilt, Kareem, and himself on his Instagram, Shaq was seen asking his followers to ‘Start, Bench and Cut’ one of the three NBA legends. Captioning the post as “ok let me hear it and b honest I can take it” the big man looked to end the best-center debate once and for all. While Shaq has always respected Kareem regardless of their alleged beef, the same cannot be said for Wilt Chamberlain.

During an appearance on the ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien‘ show in 1997, the 2x NBA champion was critical of Shaq. Wilt stated, “He plays an entirely different game of basketball than I do. He uses his physicality, and he’s a big, young, strong man. And that works well in today’s game.

Continuing to wax his own lyrical, Wilt then compared his era to Shaq’s, believing that the dominant center wouldn’t be so dominant in the 60s. Explaining this, he said, “If he was facing me and other guys of my time, not so, not so good. I mean, I’m a guy bench pressing around 600 pounds.

Although we may never know if Shaq would have been dominant during the 60s, the legend did have his own views on the argument. In the very post he asked his fans to vote on, the former MVP could be seen quashing that very narrative in the comments section.

A fan’s comment read, “Cutting Kareem is crazy that’s a 6x champ and wilt same play type like Shaq“. Shaq responded by saying, “nobody played like me stop it“. Possibly a response to Wilt’s 16-year-old comments, Shaq feels that he sits higher than Wilt on this list. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
