Did Steve Kerr's comments about Trump and Curry cross the line? What's your take?

Fresh off leading Team USA to a fifth straight gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Steve Kerr plunged headfirst into a new kind of battle—one in the political arena. He officially endorsed Kamala Harris for the U.S. presidency, dropping a line borrowed from Steph Curry during the Democratic National Convention. But while some fans cheered, not everyone was on board as another NBA great was quick to throw some shade Kerr’s way.

“After the results are tallied that night, we can in the words of Stephen Curry, we can tell Donald Trump… night night!” Kerr said at the DNC on Monday. But the cheers quickly turned into chatter on social media. Rashad McCants, one among them, posted the clip on X, captioning: “Alright now…… I think ima troll Steve Kerr all season long for this!!! #bought.”

Well, that won’t be the first time Kerr has given McCants a reason to troll him. Even as it was first announced that Kerr would be speaking at the Democratic Convention, Rashad took to X, to trash once again.“The dems reached a new low LMAOOOOO Politics is Super Cooked!!!! MOVE AROUND STEVE!!!” he had written.

All this seems to stem from one instance, surrounding Kerr and the Golden State Warriors’ popular face, Klay Thompson, that did not sit right with the former NBA star.

NBA stars slams Steve Kerr over his management

On Gil’s Arena podcast, Rashad McCants shared the moment he lost faith in Steve Kerr’s coaching as the crew discussed Team USA’s exhibition game performance. “I got to vouch for Klay because Klay was in a position where he didn’t want m***********s to give up on him, and the n**** gave up on him. He gave up on Klay, man,” he remarked.

Have an interesting take?

Thompson wasn’t having the best of seasons the past campaign and the former Timberwolves star believes Kerr did nothing to help. Instead, benching Thompson to play rookie Brandon Podziemski, for the first time since his debut, only made it worse according to McCants. The rest of the crew on the podcast thought so too, nodding in agreement.

Klay would go on to sign with the Mavericks after playing for the Dubs his entire career. So McCants even added, “I don’t trust you man,” over Kerr’s move. The whole of the lot on the podcast was upset with the 4x champion coach’s decision, that extended to the exhibition games where he decided to play Joel Embiid and not Anthony Edwards. Gilbert Arenas went as far as to say the coach had an “agenda.”

Whatever the case, the Chicago Bulls legend hasn’t landed on the right side of former NBA stars with his coaching.
