Steve Kerr Breaks Silence After Shaquille O’Neal Drops Bold GOAT Claim on Stephen Curry: “I Think the Argument…”

The Warriors were off to a rocky start but Stephen Curry decided to put an end to all the doubts with a heroic 33-point performance against the table-topping Boston Celtics. The over-the-moon three-ball to seal the win was impressive enough for Shaquille O’Neal to give Curry one of the biggest compliments. The Los Angeles Lakers legend, not only ranked the Chef above himself but also vouched for the 3-point leader to be in the conversation for the ‘Greatest player of all time’. 

This news was a sweet delight for Dubs fans, but especially for Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. However, the 58-year-old believes Shaq’s argument is not the elephant in the room. Rather, the question should be, if Curry is the ‘most skilled player of all time’. Kerr, when asked about Shaq’s compliment, shared, “Love that. I think the argument that, maybe isn’t even an argument: is he [Curry] the most skilled player of all time.”

He added, “I just look at Steph as the most skilled basketball player I’ve ever seen.” May 2024 marks Kerr’s 10th year with the Warriors. So there’s no doubt about how well he knows his players, especially his leading man.

What could be a better compliment than being termed the ‘most skilled player of all time’? Well, Kerr did not hesitate to put Curry and 6x NBA champion Michael Jordan in the same conversation. However, Kerr has justified his take with some reasonable arguments.

The former Chicago Bulls guard shared, “I see their similarities, and I see their differences…The biggest similarity is the work ethic. Michael, like Steph, put every single ounce of energy into getting better every single year, constantly searching for ways to get better.” Moreover, Kerr added an unearthed fact about how highly competitive Curry is. That was again something Kerr believes Jordan had. 

And most importantly, Curry has entered the 35 Club, which boasted only a few elite players like Jordan and LeBron James. Curry has already recorded some impressive performances at age 35, which is another reason why he must be considered one of the greatest. Oh, and let’s not forget he is still in his prime!
