The situation with the Warriors isn’t looking too bright. The Celtics dominated the Golden State Warriors 125-85 in San Francisco. The Warriors haven’t suffered a home loss by 40 points since January 15, 1985. Clearly, the gap came as a big shock. As the Warriors continue to struggle, TNT analyst Charles Barkley weighed in on the options that the Warriors might be considering. While doing so, he also stressed Stephen Curry‘s recent take on trades.
As Inside the NBA crew discussed the Warriors’s upsetting loss, Barkley started with the absence of Draymond Green. “Listen, Steph has been one of the best ever. He’s starting to slow down. Draymond’s starting to slow down. They got to figure out, are they just going to take the losing or make a trade?“
Speaking of Curry’s previous advice for the Warriors, he further added, “I saw Steph said, hey, maybe we shouldn’t mortgage our future because they’re not going to be competitive the next couple years because their best player got older. They let their other great player go. They’re just in trouble right now.”

The Warriors have been looking forward to bringing a big man to the team. However, amidst the uproar, the 4 x NBA champ, Curry has commented that the franchise shouldn’t make a trade that could put the future of the team at risk. This is what Barkley had hinted at in his statement.
After the Warriors’ 104-101 loss to a Toronto Raptors, Curry said, “Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we’re done.”
As per the revelation of two Western Conference executives to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, the team is looking to save its top trade assets for the offseason. It looks like the Warriors won’t be making any big additions this season. However, has the recent defeat been able to change any minds?

The Celtics handed a tough defeat to the Warriors
This was one of the worst defeats the Golden State Warriors have faced in the past few years. While Curry’s squad had only two players, including him, scoring double digits, the Boston Celtics had more than five players hitting double figures. The 4x NBA champ had 18 points. Andre Wiggins was seen struggling on the court, missing all four of his 3-point attempts and scoring only 4 points.

For the Celtics, Tatum had 22 points, with 12 points in the third quarter. Jaylen Brown contributed 17 points while Kristaps Porziņģis had 18 points. “So, they’re (Celtics) coming in with a level of confidence and swagger about ’em, and it’s the exact opposite of what we have right now. So yeah, obviously great memories, but definitely feels like a long time ago,” Curry said about the Celtics.
Not just the situation with trades, the team is also struggling with injuries. Green was sidelined due to a mild calf strain. While Kyle Anderson was out with a glute injury, Brandin Podziemski was sidelined due to an abdomen injury. Jonathan Kuminga injured his right ankle on January 4 and had to be sidelined for at least three weeks. The Warriors will be facing arch-rivals Sacramento Kings next.
