recordMichael Jordan and his hunger to win has no other substitute. His 100% record of winning every NBA finals and finals MVP carries a lore of its own. Over the years, he surely accumulated many such records, some have been broken by others. But some, MJ himself has broken multiple times and no one else has claimed it yet.

Did you know? Michael Jordan is the only player in NBA history, to win MVP, the scoring title, 1st team All-Defensive team, an NBA Championship, and Finals MVP in the same season. He did it 4 times.” Damian Lillard shared the post on his Instagram story, and wrote, “Crazy.” The first time His Airness achieved this feat was in 91 and later followed it up the next year in 92. The next two would be after his comeback from his first retirement.

During another three-peat, he received this honor once again in 96 and bid adieu to basketball for the second time, and won the honor in 98. The 8x All-Star has often called Michael Jordan is GOAT. “Two-three on his back. I don’t think it’s too much of a debate as far as who’s the GOAT, and I would say it’s Jordan.” But even he found it surprising to see such a stat about the Bulls legend.

Damian Lillard and his Michael Jordan-like honor

As stated, during that weekend in February, the Bucks star scored 39 points to help East win. But a day earlier, he won the 3-point contest. ESPN’s Malika Andrews tweeted, “After winning the 3-point contest last night and All-Star Game MVP tonight, Damian Lillard joins elite company. The only other player to win All-Star MVP and an All-Star Saturday event in the same year was Michael Jordan in 1988, winning the Dunk Contest.”

The 1988 All-Star game was on Jordan’s home turf in Chicago. He won the Dunk Contest before the Bulls home crowd on Saturday and then ended the weekend with another victory. He outscored Lillard’s current record with a game-high 40 points as the East reigned supreme with a 138-133 win. Naturally, Michael Jordan was awarded All-Star Game MVP that night.

So, from featuring on a record alongside His Airness to finding out a record of him. Damian Lillard just can’t get enough of his GOAT. This comes after he has met him in person and even that day he was star-struck.
