What is Shaq up to now that the NBA season is over? This was a question that was unanswered, but not after today. There is always a career waiting for Shaq, and this time, it was the return of his much-known avatar, DJ Diesel. His time with Cleveland is not over yet. We are not speaking about the Cavaliers. Rather, it is the Cleveland Guardians of the MLB, who gave Shaq a chance to keep his disc jockey skills alive. Surprisingly, it resulted in a stadium sell-out, but is that going to add a few more million to his net worth?
After the Guardians beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-3, Shaquille O’Neal made sure the home crowd stayed to watch his post-game performance. DJ Diesel is not just a crowd-puller. His dance-worthy music got the players of the Guardians excited, as they joined him on the stage after a huge win. Live concerts happen on rare occasions in the sports world. However, DJ Diesel was kind enough to pull up during a regular season game. The Progressive Field at Cleveland, which has a capacity of 34,830 seats, was flooded with fans surrounding the stage.
This would have painted a picture that Shaq must have earned several thousand or even a million through this concert. However, the reality is that he will be earning a whopping $0 from it. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is not interested in adding a couple of millions to his pocket.

This won’t be the only DJ Diesel we get to see this year. Shaq has about three more shows booked. LA’s Shrine Auditorium on August 23, 2024, Buffalo on August 17, and his Bass All-Stars in Orlando on October 19. The website of two of these shows suffered a crash upon announcement. That is all the joy for the 15X All-Star who picks up the role merely for the love of it.
“People always ask me, why I’m doing it, not getting paid anything…I’m doing it for the sport of bass music”, said Shaq in 2019. He has lived up to his words for the last five years, and will for the rest of his DJ career too.
Guardians star shares the experience of watching DJ Diesel live
Shaq’s return is very promising, looking at the crowd he managed to pull for a post-game show. He kept the fans active, and also the players, who loved watching DJ Diesel perform. Guardians’ outfielder Will Brennan shared his first-hand experience of the live concert.
“I think it’s unbelievable…Sold-out crowd. I don’t really know how much that is for him, for his deejaying ability, or for the Guards. But it’s exciting,” said Brennan. Brennan, his teammates, and the fans of the Guardians might get lucky because there is a great chance that DJ Diesel will return to Progressive Field.
