Only a few hours ago, the US faced off against Portugal as part of a final Group-stage match. In order to advance to the next round, the team needs to either win or draw in this crucial Eden Park faceoff. The Americans had a good start to the WC season, defeating Vietnam by 3 goals. Their second match with the Netherlands didn?t go as well, with the game ending in a tie.

Since the match was set to take place at 3 am Eastern Time, this meant that the people in Los Angeles had to wait till midnight to view the game. The obstacle wasn?t something that Vanessa and Natalia Bryant were bothered with, though.
Coming fresh from catching a late show of Barbie, the mother-daughter duo switched on their home television and waited for the game to begin. Both of them took to Instagram to share glimpses of the match with their respective followers. While Vanessa posted the first update on her story at around 1:20 AM PST, Natalia posted at 1:35 AM.

The match eventually ended in a tie, with both teams scoring 0 goals. This allows the US to advance to the next round. Relieved at the news, Natalia wrote, “Phew,” in the caption of her story, which Vanessa later reposted on hers.
While Vanessa and Natalia were staying up all night just to support their national team, they may also be doing it in order to root for one individual member of the USWNT.
Trinity Rodman was once called a “stud” by Kobe Bryant
A week before Trinity Rodman was set to appear in the match against Vietnam, she sat down for an interview with People. During the same, she opened up about the impact that Kobe Bryant had in her life.
Having first met the Black Mamba at the age of 6, Trinity described how the late player would go to the games with Dennis Rodman and that her earliest memory was a moment when Kobe approached the little girl and said that she would go on to become a ?stud.?

?He was an amazing human,? said Trinity in the interview. ?He made it very clear that women are capable of being as successful, if not more successful, than men.? What Kobe said would go on to create an impression in the mind of the future star as she made her way ahead in the soccer world. At one point, Trinity played on the same team as Natalia Bryant.
In the few matches that the US have played, the young Rodman has played at an exceptional level. Her father?s absence has not caused any trouble in distracting the player from what?s important.
