Gasol wrote on both Instagram and Twitter in Spanish. It said, “I am convinced that the same passion with which you fight on the field will make you come back stronger! Good luck, Gavi!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼“.

During Spain’s final game of the European Championship qualifier against Georgia, Gavi went down with an injury. The reports later confirmed that he had a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. This injury is set to sideline him for the foreseeable future. Gavi is expected to get surgery soon and will likely be out of action for over 8 months. Considering the fact that Gavi won the Golden Boy award in 2022, this is a major setback for the 19-year-old. But Gasol believes that the young kid will be back better than ever before. He believes in Gavi’s ability to overcome this setback and be back on the field to take over the football world in the upcoming years.

Pau Gasol played in the NBA for 18 years and for Barcelona for 4 years. He kept playing until the age of 41 before announcing his retirement in 2021. In the later stages of his career, he had a foot injury that kept him off the court for over a year. Having recently witnessed a fellow athlete from Spain get injured on the football field, Gasol wanted to let the young star know that he believed in him.

Gasol has helped the European players

During his time in the NBA, Pau Gasol won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. But what was just as important as winning a championship was the impact that he has had on the next generation of European players.
