Despite retiring more than a decade ago, Shaquille O’Neal remains one of the most recognizable faces in the NBA today. Stemming from his immense success on the court, Shaq has managed to replicate similar success off the court as well. Possessing a plethora of investments under his portfolio, Shaq has an estimated net worth of $400 million. One of his biggest and most successful investments so far is his restaurant chain, which recently opened a branch in Rosemont, Illinois.

A man of many talents, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has quite the resume. Apart from being a TV analyst on TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’, O’Neal is a business mogul.

In a recent post on their official Instagram account, ‘Big Chicken Shaq’ announced the launch of their newest restaurant in Rosemont, Illinois. The first of its kind in the Chicago area, the $1.4 million venture opens 68 years after $214 billion rivals McDonald’s did in 1955. Brought over to the Prairie State by franchisee Ken Patel, the 7-11 owner looks to open a second restaurant in Illinois soon.

Launching in 2018, the brand has grown exponentially since then, becoming one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains across America. The menu is based on Shaq’s favorite childhood meals, with it being catered to modern taste buds. Hosting items such as crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, crusted mac n’ cheese, and more, the menu offers variety.

First launching in Las Vegas, the restaurant chain has now taken over the country. With fans calling for its launch in their respective cities, the restaurant only looks to grow further.

‘Big Chicken Shaq’s’ unique business model

After launching over 200 restaurants across America, Big Chicken has stores across multiple facets. Being named the CFO of a $17.62 Billion dollar company Shaq now has an offshore restaurant as well. Not resting on its laurels, the big man has also acquired spots in stadiums, feeding hungry fans during games.

In addition to his restaurants being in places most franchises wouldn’t, O’Neal also starred in a reality TV series based around the original restaurant branch, called “Big Chicken Shaq.” Releasing in late 2018, the series showcased a unique business model which took an unorthodox approach to marketing.
