In 1996, a six-foot guard quickly made a name for himself. Thanks to his explosivity and famous crossover step, even Michael Jordan couldn’t stop Allen Iverson and his renowned move. An NBA top 75 honoree now, The Answer has earned quite the love and respect. While one, an NBA icon, made a post to echo the same, another, an actor/comedian, had a rather witty take.

Detroit Pistons legend, Isiah Thomas, shared an Instagram post this Sunday, captioning it, “Let it be Known #tb.” He shared the frame with Iverson in the post as they conversed at the NBA Top 75 ceremony. For the two guards, the 68-year-old comedian, Arsenio Hall, had a lauding remark. “If I owned a palace or a basketball team, I’d love to have either of these guards on my side,” he wrote in the comments.

Unsure about the palace, but Zeke and The Answer sure make the better guards on a basketball team for Hall to put his $16 million net worth to good use. The 76ers legend, averaging 27.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in Philadelphia was ranked among the top 5 shooting guards while Michael Jordan simply placed Isiah Thomas as the second-best point guard ever. And the facts haven’t evaded the two icons.

While the Pistons legend had the post to share, AI considers Isiah to be on his Mount Rushmore.

“Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, Detroit Pistons great Isiah Thomas, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, and ‘Point Gawd’ Chris Paul.” That’s Iverson’s list from an age-old clip. The 63-year-old and the 76ers legend, however, never truly got the chance to share the hardwood.

By the time 1997 ROTY made his debut in the league, Isiah Thomas had retired and hung up his boots. But AI took up the mantle to continue being a threat to Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the east.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Allen Iverson and Isiah Thomas have formed the ultimate guard duo if they played together?

Have an interesting take?

Zeke was a fan of Allen Iverson’s moment with MJ

Before The Answer started breaking ankles in the league, it was Tim Hardaway Jr. and Isiah Thomas who did that on a regular basis. But there was a different flair and strategy that AI brought to the league that the two above-mentioned legends did not bring to the table. That’s why even the great Jordan ended up being in the crossover.

When [Allen] Iverson crossed over Jordan, I mean, when he came in with this crossover, no one has seen this type of crossover before,” Thomas spoke to the NBA’s official YouTube channel. “The crossover that myself and Tim [Hardaway] had, it was a one-two between the legs, and then it was a low crossover under the knees. We were thought that you play inside the box. You never come outside the box so you can get right to your shot.

Even though the two did not share the basketball court during their playing days, their gameplay and domination were enough to create a positive memory for a lifetime.
