Shaquille O’Neal’s kind gesture made the day of the Garrett family. The Big Aristotle surely splurges a lot on his cars, but he also makes good use of his $500 million net worth to make this earth a better place for people. He is also part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which fulfills the wishes of young children suffering from terminal illnesses. Having done so for many years, the 4x NBA champ seems to have unknowingly begun granting random people’s wishes without them even asking for it.
Such is the recent story of the Garrett family. It was just another day at JCPenney in The Parks Mall in Arlington for Wendell Garrett and his wife, Laura. The couple was there to buy sweaters for the 6’5″ tall Wendell. But to their surprise, O’Neal was also present there. After a warm greeting, the Lakers legend surprised the Texas couple by giving them a $500 gift card.
Well, it only takes one spark to light a fire. Little did O’Neal know that the family shared the same philanthropic spirit as him but was struggling financially to keep up. When they received the $500 gift card, they knew what they had to do. “I’d been praying like, how are we going to fund this because we’ve had kind of a hard year financially…I knew that was an answer to a prayer. Right then and there, we knew that’s what we’re going to use that money for,” Laura said.

The couple and their two sons are volunteers at Beautiful Feet in Fort Worth, a foundation that gifts holiday presents to young kids whose parents can’t afford them.
The family is grateful, as revealed on KVUE, to the almighty as well as Shaq for helping them bring smiles to kids’ faces. It isn’t much different from what O’Neal, who runs the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation desires. The Big Aristotle was taught about kindness and generosity early in life by his mother, Lucille O’Neal, and stepfather, Phillip Harrison. Just recently, he made 500 children happy by giving them sneakers.

Shaquille O’Neal’s spot in Inside the NBA is unpredictable!
After TNT’s failure to make a deal with the NBA, there were looming concerns about Inside the NBA’s future. But months in, giving fans major relief, it was announced that the show would continue to air but with a different network — ESPN.
As per this deal, the show will remain with the same panel but on a different network. Now, here comes the shocker, Shaquille O’Neal‘s deal is set to end after the 2023-24 season. On the other hand, Charles Barkley has a 10-year deal with the company. That is because his deal is slightly different from what the rest of the Inside the NBA crew. O’Neal’s deal strictly follows NBA and that too for 8 months. As per sources, O’Neal has expressed that he wants to stay on the show, though there are several other options he might consider exploring.

Jimmy Traina of SI said, “While sources say Shaq wants to remain on the show, he’s frustrated that there has been congratulations and press releases hyping that Inside the NBA is remaining the same while he is currently not under contract to be with the company next season.”
The Los Angeles Lakers legend has the option to make a deal with NBC, which will begin its run next season. But Shaq on Inside the NBA is something many would not like to miss. Maybe his comments on the same could be the holiday present they would cherish.
