Kamala Harris and Matt Barnes teaming up—political strategy or desperate move? What's your take?

Can’t be a presidential race without a few plot twists. The Vice President of the US is directly reaching out to the sports community via the All The Smoke podcast. Yes, this is not a drill. It’s the same unfiltered weekly sports entertainment show hosted by former NBA pros, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Since they scored the Democratic presidential candidate, it took fans some effort to wrap their heads around it.

All the Smoke usually hosts personalities with direct connections to the sports world and mostly basketball. It does present a unique opportunity for Showtime to go beyond the NBA community. Barnes and Stak are occasionally outspoken on some major social issues. Which would probably be a discussion when the show with Kamala Harris airs on Monday, at 10 pm EST.

Harris reportedly recorded the interview on September 24. Though the picture of her flanked by the two gigantic Warriors stars surfaced, they’ve kept a tight lid on what they discussed. So it was up to fans to speculate in the buildup to it.

Did Harris give her opinions on the ‘We Believe’ Warriors? What does she think about LeBron’s longevity? Is load management declining according to her? What are her 2024-25 predictions? Who knows!

Fans have presidential reactions to All The Smoke

After talking music with Zach Lowe, Kamala Harris is diversifying her interview library with All The Smoke. Though there are some who predict, “smart. imagine she’s automatic from 15ft,” we’re not sure we’d see Harris’ hidden hoops talent on the show.

Have an interesting take?

If they’re going to talk Dubs, a few important issues need to be addressed. Luckily one social media user listed it out clearly. “I’m an undecided voter. I need to hear Harris explain her position on Andrie Biedrins’ rapid decline and whether Kelenna Azubuike should have gotten more mins off the bench.” She has worked in San Francisco, is from Oakland, California, and names the Golden State Warriors to be one of her favorite teams. Which makes fans want to know her takes on, “Harris talking points: * Needed to trade Baron before he hit FA * Biedrins development plan a failure * Wants to see more Ike Diogu minutes.”

This could also put Barnes and Jackson on the spot. Depending on her answer to, “Kamala Harris do you promise to hire a special prosecutor to determine whether Warriors Twitter was the driving force behind Kevin Durant leaving in free agency? How can the people trust you if not?” they would probably have reactions.

When the duo played for the Warriors, Harris was the DA in San Francisco. But the more direct connection is the Dubs coach, Steve Kerr, endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz at the DNC.

The interview is already recorded but if Barnes asked her, “Kamala, name your top 5 pure scorers in the nba,” like one fan online, it could get real scandalous.

Some say, “There won’t be any smoke.” Others suggest, “Should Have Had Trump,” for Showtime to branch into a new theme. But this is our chance to find out, “Madam Vice President, what was your welcome to the NBA moment?
