Some athletes have been feeling rather insecure since Shaunie Henderson’s book dropped. In Undefeated, Shaunie raises a few brows through the line, “Looking back, I don’t know that I was ever really in love with the man.” Shaq had a typical Shaq response to it. Others did not. So even though the subject of Shaunie’s book is having a diss battle with Shannon Sharpe, he and his co-host, Chad Johnson came to his defense. Ochocinco took it a step ahead and sought a semantic clarification on Shaunie’s statement from the only person in his life who could say it.
Drawing from Shaunie’s book, Shannon Sharpe said on Nightcap that there’s a difference between ‘loving someone’ and ‘being in love with someone.’ Shaquille O’Neal was dropping a scorching diss track on Shay as he spoke but the real one getting stung was Ocho. Without the whole Shaunie-Shaq revelation, he’d never discover there’s a difference. So he urgently called Sharelle Rosado.
He stumbled trying to phrase the question accurately for Rosado and had Sharpe do the needful. “Do you love Ocho, or are you in love with Ocho?” Rosado responded, “I am in love with you and I love you.” Yet because Shaunie came to terms with her feelings for Shaq too late, Ocho asked if she was sure and mildly offended her. Even Sharpe said there’s no guarantee because “I’m sure Shaq thought she was in love with him.” Rosado’s work was done and she bowed out but the discussion was still on.

For the uninitiated, Ocho was previously married to Shaunie’s best friend and Basketball Wives star, Evelyn Lozada, before his relationship with Rosado. The Selling Tampa star is engaged to Ocho and they recently welcomed a baby girl together. They’re going to get married in the Bahamas soon and Sharpe relayed big plans on the show about how he’s going to spend Ocho’s wedding festivities in the Bahamas (it doesn’t look like a visit to Shaq’s holiday home there is in the cards). Ocho is still unclear on the difference. But Shaq isn’t.
Shaq is not in love with Shannon Sharpe
Shaq has been nothing but supportive of Shaunie’s memoir, with no bad word out of him. Even after it became a hot issue that she didn’t love her husband of seven years, O’Neal wrote on Instagram, “I understand… I wouldn’t have been in love with me either… Wishing you all the best… All love, Shaq.” He further wrote, “trust me I get it.”
The one who’s not getting any love and trust is Ocho’s co-host. Shaq dropped “The Big Man” this week, a diss track aiming Sharpe regarding their heated over the NBA MVP contenders. The platinum-selling rap artist-turned-DJ blatantly threw the line, “Oh no, Shannon Sharpe, you’re way beneath me,” in the song.
No lack of clarity in that for sure. Hopefully, Ocho doesn’t talk himself into Shaq or Sharpe’s place anytime soon.
