Can’t take the Golden State out of this girl! Shaunie Henderson is now a resident of Houston and spent a lot of time filming Basketball Wives in Miami. But she’s a Cali girl through and through. That shone when she was co-hosting the Cry Out Experience 2024 this past weekend. The second annual convention is now the biggest event on Houston Lighthouse Church’s calendar, organized by her husband, Pastor Keion Henderson. The pastor is a cheeky one though. He knows what gets Shaunie out of her shell. And nothing works better than tapping into the Californian inside Shaunie with a little assistance from Kendrick Lamar.

The challenge Keion presented to Shaunie was to make a Hollywood-esque, Ellen DeGeneres style, musical entrance on the stage of Cry Out Experience alongside him. She did exactly that to Kendrick Lamar’s smash hit of the year, “Not Like Us,” which was fabulous and won the crowd of thousands at the George R. Brown Convention Center. After her entrance, she told the crowd, “He dared me y’all!” She shared the clip on her Instagram and once again blamed her husband. “@pastorkeion tripled dared me so I had to! #caligirl.” What makes it even better is that the LA-born rapper had the entire city and the Internet, including Shaquille O’Neal vibing last week with his Pop Out concert that streamed on Amazon Prime from the Kia Forum in Inglewood.

We think she needs to own it a little more because that was spectacular. Her challenger, Mr. Henderson, walked out plainly. He needs to be dared into repping Houston too.

Shaunie won over everyone and got some ultimate validation from her boys. DJ, model, and Los Angeles resident, Myles O’Neal knows a thing about entrances and he said this one was, “Wow this is amazing.” Shaqir was probably left speechless because all he could muster was “omg.”

They weren’t in the minority. Shaunie’s fellow Californians flooded the comments hyping this star.

Credits for bringing us this gem goes to the Hendersons’ friend, Jason Theriot. And he was swept in Shaunie’s CaliGirl, a dilemma he expressed in the comments. “I was hyping you up soo bad behind the camera! I had to take the original audio off lol…PLEASE GOOOO AWFFF FIRST LADY!! #NotYourTypical.”

Shaunie and Keion, who celebrated their second wedding anniversary in May, launched the Cry Out Experience in 2023 as a way to bring culture and faith together in one outlet for people. The highlight this year was Deion Sanders aka Coach Prime as a speaker. Shaunie though could’ve stolen his spotlight right from entrance because, as one put, “Cuz First Lady is a LA GURL!!!!”

She brought out chants of ‘go off sis’ from the crowd. But even people seeing this on a phone screen weren’t immune. One person said, “Nahhhh go Lady, go Lady!! 🔥❤️ love you down!” and another confirmed, “Me screaming “go off sis” from seat.”

As for the one who made it happen, “Now @pastorkeion why you not dancing !!!!!???!” They already announced the 2025 edition of Cry Out Experience and Keion will have a tough act to follow up on.
