There is no excuse to not check in with your mom – Shaunie, probably. Myles O’Neal got a very public lesson in that. He was doing his thing, being a model, rocking the latest summer fashion, and in comes his mom being a mom. Shaunie Henderson is usually the best hypegirl to have in your corner when it comes to her kids. But not this time. Myles did something unbelievable and Shaunie called him out for it. Not a good example Myles is setting as the eldest of Shaunie’s kids.

Shaquille O’Neal’s DJ and model son was out there on Instagram, rocking the hottest trend this season, animal prints. He was hanging out with DJ Pee Wee in Malibu and enjoying the clear weather. He captioned his Instagram post, “Summer is finally here,” and left himself wide open for his mom to swoop in the comments. “But have you called your mother?” she commented. If it was in person, we picture Shaunie arms crossed, foot tapping, one brow raised when she sees the Instagram notification that Myles just posted but not a call from him.

To be fair, he does immediately remind her, “I just talked to you on the phone.” But did Myles call or was it Shaunie? After all, the youngest O’Neal, Me’Arah, is about to leave the nest and head to Florida. Myles is in California when he’s not traveling for his DJ and fashion events. His siblings also have their own summer plans. Irrespective of their busy summer plans, it is against the law to not call your mom and let her know you’re doing well.

And Myles is having a hot summer. One of the biggest highlights was his recent collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer NITTI. Both celebrated their birthdays in May together with a head-thumping birthday bash in LA’s Academy Club. Making it extra special was his newest track, “All I Need,” a song he released via Fortnite. That wasn’t all and not the only thing on Myles’ calendar.

Shaunie will have a hard time keeping up with Myles O’Neal

Shaunie Henderson had a busy May on a press tour for her memoir, Undefeated. It probably didn’t leave her much time to watch Myles’ big debut at the iconic Las Vegas music festival, EDC Las Vegas. Myles and Shaq have more than deejaying in common. Both get blown away by the incredible fan response. While the level of excitement at EDC made him lose his voice, Myles loved every minute of it as he showed in a FOMO-inducing recap post.

He’ll recreate that energy when he heads to Nashville, Tennessee, this weekend. He’s performing at the Night We Met club on June 22 and ticket details are available on his Instagram.

Myles has a lot more coming. He just needs to remember to call his mom.
