Who says couples have everything in common? In fact, the notion of opposites attract has been a long-held one for love birds. Similar is the case with Shaunie Henderson and her husband, Pastor Keion Henderson. The two have many differences, yet their relationship is remarkably strong. For instance, they have different ways of praying and expressing their love. There’s even one particular quality that Shaunie struggles with, while it comes easily to her husband.

Awestruck by her husband’s sweet nature, she admitted that she doesn’t possess it. In a recent episode of their joint, ‘The GrOOwZone Podcast’, the couple discussed ‘grace.’ It’s a unique quality to love people unconditionally. Shaunie believes that her husband has this grace.

When she asked him about it, her husband gave the response she had anticipated. “I’m more of a, ‘I don’t have a reason to distrust you yet and we’re going to find out’,” Pastor Keion noted. “See that! I mean, it’s so awesome how you are able to… I’m like I don’t trust that person, I don’t know them you know and you are like they haven’t given me a reason to not trust them,” Shaunie responded. 

While her husband doesn’t seek reasons to distrust others, Shaunie tends to keep her guard up. Still, she is the kindest soul. And what makes her special are her consistent efforts and desire to become a better person as she has mentioned in her interviews.

After her marriage to Pastor Keion, Shaunie became the First Lady of the church. However, this isn’t her first time managing such a big responsibility.

Shaunie Henderson was the Church Secretary 

In the podcast, Henderson shared how Shaunie grew up in church, with her mother serving as the church pianist. Before detailing the humorous story about practicing playing his guitars with Shaunie’s mother, Pastor Keion revealed Shaunie’s first important responsibility: to be a church secretary. 

She held the position for about two years when she was 19 or 20 years old. This means it was also before Shaunie’s marriage to the Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal. Although she loved growing up in the church, she found the experience of working there challenging. 

Shaunie admitted that, at the time, she was too young to fully grasp the expectations people had. “Grace and Church are just expected. At a level that is almost unrealistic and being the Church Secretary, that young, I remember going home and telling my mom like I hate it there like I grew up in this church and I loved it,” Shaunie confessed.

She believes that grace is a special gift. However, even if it is not a match that of Pastor Keion, Shaunie has shown immense grace.
