Shaquille O’Neal’s Teenage Sons Had 1 Question for Keion Henderson After Shaunie’s Big Reveal

Shaunie Henderson has talked about how her husband, Keion Henderson has an incredible relationship with her children. But how did her sons react to the news of their mother getting engaged after her divorce? Well, Shaunie recently revealed what her boys asked Pastor Henderson when the news was revealed to them.

The Basketball Wives producer walked away from her marriage to Shaquille O’Neal with four children and one from a previous marriage. After her divorce in 2011, Shaunie she started dating again after a considerable amount of time and went public with a new relationship in 2021. That was when she announced her engagement to Pastor Keion Henderson and they were together for two years at that point.

During their recent appearance on The TMI Podcast, Shaunie and Keion delved deeper into her kids’ reactions when they told them about their engagement. By Shaunie’s account, when Keion asked her children for their blessing, they had only one question. “My boys said, what took you so long?“.

Keion is also divorced and a dad to a very young girl. Shaunie said that they weren’t sure his daughter understood much of what was going on. But her sons, Myles, Shareef, and Shaqir, were adult enough and they were nervous about how they would react to the news of their engagement.

However, they pleasantly surprised them and told them, “We’ve been waiting for this, Like you make our mother happy, like we haven’t seen her this kind of happy before and they love.” During the conversation, Shaunie also opened up on the relationship her kids have with Keion.

She added, “I mean they have their own relationship with him they call him on their own time everybody has their own thing even my youngest daughter who just turned 18 last week she said that watching Keon be a father to his daughter are are like traits that she longed for.”

While Shaq is a doting dad, his kids do admit that his demanding career meant he wasn’t around so much when they were little kids.

The couple got married in 2022 and recently celebrated their second marriage anniversary recently. In the past as well, Shaunie has spoken about the bond between her kids and her husband.

In a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Life, while she was engaged with Keion, she revealed, “They have their own relationship with him. They love him so much and he loves them so much. It’s just so perfect. Not one of them has a problem with him or is disconnected. They have a group text and their own individual ones going on. The connection warms my heart. It’s a package deal with five kids, so it was just perfect.”

Well, Keion has gone on to form bonds of his own with Shaunie’s kids, who have come to adore him as their dad. Despite their divorce, Shaunie and Shaq have worked together for their children and Keion has had a role to play as well.

Shaunie and Keion built a blended family

Shaunie and Keion married on May 28, 2022, in Anguilla. Me’Arah and Amirah were part of her bridal party and her older kids were present at the wedding. Shaq congratulated her for finding someone who treated her right and never had a bad word about them in public. The best example was when Shaq, Shaunie, and Keion showed a united front at Me’Arah’s senior night.

Keion said on the same podcast that he and Shaq have mutual admiration for each other. The pastor of Houston Life Church especially respects him for the humanitarian he is. They have a unique friendship for the sake of Shaunie, with no animosity. Keion also steps in for the kids. Even if it’s to let Shaq dunk on him and be Meezy’s practice buddy. Contrary to what is spun in social media circles, Shaq maintains a delicate balance with Shaunie and Keion for their kids.
