Is Myles O'Neal stepping out of Shaq's shadow, or is he just following the legacy?

If you took a break from the Shaq Shimmy on Fortnite and looked at Myles, you’d know he has been up to big things. He’s modeling for Bvlgari, dropped one of his best headbangers ‘Alerta’ and had consecutive performances. And now, he dropped big news in a pretty casual manner. Shaquille O’Neal and his eldest son are in Baton Rouge for the LSU homecoming parade. Between live shows, podcasts, and partying with the Tigers, Myles unveiled a huge partnership. What’s going on?

In a seemingly casual Instagram post outside a supermarket, Myles was seen holding up his Monster Energy can. He captioned his post, “I’m officially signed to @monsterenergy and I’m going on tour! Baton Rouge you’re up first baby, let’s get cooked.”

In the video, the 27-year-old said, “Yes sir, we’ve been working on this for a while. I can finally announce, we’re officially signed with Monster. We’re going on tour, I got my Monster. We’re… where are we? We’re in Baton Rouge tonight for a double header – Fred’s and LSU Campus. Shout out to the Monster family, shout out to my boy, Dingo. Everybody that’s supported me and stuff. I’m really excited about this.” He said this and took a sip of his drink from the $45.6 billion company (subject to hourly change).

But did you know that five years ago, Shaq had endorsed Monster Energy’s rival, Bang Energy? Well, in 2019, Shaq’s Fun House shared on Facebook, “SHAQ’s favorite energy drink, @bangenergy, was our first sponsor to roll up in a fully branded Jeep @ Miami, Florida.”

What’s interesting is that in 2013, Shaq also partnered with a beverage brand to release his line of ‘Soda Shaq.’ It was released in several flavors like Vanilla Cream, Blueberry Cream, Strawberry Cream, and Orange Cream. The idea behind this?

A tall can with Shaq’s face staring at you while you consume the all-natural beverage. He came up with his own drink at a time when Kobe Bryant was endorsing Sprite and so many other names were endorsing Gatorade. That’s in the past, though. What’s next?

What are Shaquille O’Neal and Myles up to?

Partnered with Monster Energy, Myles is kicking off the Flashlight tour in the city where Shaquille O’Neal became a nationwide standout. Myles joined his dad this summer touring across Europe on the Summer of Bass Tour and debuted the O’Neal Boyz, EDM’s first father-son duo. They’re back at it again on Tigers’ turf, where Myles is kicking off his first solo tour.

Shaquille O’Neal is back to his old stomping grounds for the LSU homecoming. The 100-year tradition will keep up the celebrations with a parade and a concert. And as DJ Diesel’s done almost every year with Myles, they’re going to pump up the bassheads in this college town on October 11 with a double-header. After performing at LSU’s football game, they will be at the famous Fred’s Bar. This time, though, they take on the UREC Field Complex on Gourrier Avenue a day before the game.

Myles will head to Las Vegas next for some post-Halloween craziness on October 31 at Club Ego. It’ll be followed by a stop at Arlington, Virginia’s Darna Lounge on November 1 and back home to Los Angeles to perform at The Torch on November 9.

These are the only dates announced so far, and he has not hinted if the tour will be extended. But Myles is already off to a great start. What do you think?
