Is Shareef O'Neal's FashionNova collab a game-changer for his career, or just another celebrity endorsement?

Fashion Nova is upping its collab game with some of the best NBA-adjacent deals ever. Larsa Pippen and her youngest daughter are the rare mother-daughter duo under this brand. And with their latest move, they have an O’Neal supporting a good cause. After signing Scottie Pippen’s daughter, Sophia as a model, Fashion Nova has Shaquille O’Neal’s son on board for a new collection. Shareef O’Neal is not only modeling and promoting the brand, but he’s also stepping up for a cause literally and figuratively close to his heart.

Shaq was having a proud dad moment flexing the news on his Instagram Stories announcing Shareef and Fashion Nova’s partnership. The 24-year-old is debuting his 1st Annual Celebrity Basketball Game & Fashion Show in 2024. He is, of course, participating in both. And while he’s played in the G-League Ignite, this would mark his first foray on a runway.

Fashion Nova is partnering with Shareef on his project, marking his big return to basketball since a break in 2023. 30% of the ticket sales will be donated to the American Heart Association’s life-changing campaign, ‘Life Is Why.’

It doesn’t take much to figure out why this is so important to the entire O’Neal family. Shareef’s college career was derailed at the beginning when he was diagnosed with anomalous coronary artery at 18. He underwent open heart surgery and fought hard to recover to keep playing. His NBA dreams didn’t manifest but he remains an inspirational story of comeback.

Even while he was on medical leave in college, Shareef spent his recovery aiding the American Heart Association. The organization used his story to spread more awareness and Shareef donated his NFT proceeds towards their work.

Shaq recently bought him on board Reebok as a consultant on the design and promotion campaigns. Meanwhile, Shareef was working out and planning his 1st Celebrity Basketball Game (which he will make an annual affair). The game will be at Alexander Hamilton High School on September 14 for an admission fee of $25. No DJ Diesel but his brother, Myles O’Neal is deejaying at the game.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shareef O'Neal's FashionNova collab a game-changer for his career, or just another celebrity endorsement?

Have an interesting take?

The game will be followed by a private event, The Heart and Sole Fashion Show, on September 15. The show by Fashion Nova is themed, ‘Wear Your Heart.’

Redefining collaborations is what Fashion Nova has done best. However, you can’t ignore a pattern in their recent partnerships.

The Pippens and O’Neals lead the way

The biggest names in reality TV are Fashion Nova’s most popular reps. It wasn’t a small feat when RHOM’s Larsa Pippen joined them, but it wasn’t surprising either. The cherry on the cake was when Larsa and Scottie Pippen’s daughter, Sophia, went into modelling before she was 16.

While Larsa is in Miami and Sophia lives with her dad in California, they have a unique bonding time as colleagues at Fashion Nova. Both have their weekly posts flaunting the latest from the fast fashion brand on their respective Instagram pages. And sometimes, if we’re lucky, they’re also doing it together.

Following a couple of Pippens, they now have an O’Neal in their midst. And Fashion Nova is making the most of its NBA scion partners.
