Shareef O’Neal was only an infant when his dad won his first championship. He was barely a toddler by the Lakers’ three-peat. But he has some awesome memorabilia of his dad’s career and then some. Since getting waived by the Sacramento Kings and the G-League, Shareef’s fashion game is going strong. He just landed a cool gift that celebrates Shaquille O’Neal’s legacy with a close tribute to Kobe Bryant. Of course he had to flex it.
The Miami-based clothing brand, Brickell Boys shared their latest pieces on their social media – two jackets similar to the iconic Lakers championship jackets during the Shaq & Kobe era. Shareef, Shaq, and the iconic leather jacket visionary, Jeff Hamilton. Doesn’t appear that Shareef has the jackets in his possession yet but he shared the post on his own Instagram Stories.
It’s not clear if these are the original Jeff Hamilton creations from the Lakers’ three-peat or replicas of the vintage jackets. Hamilton is the fashion wiz who turned biker jackets into pop culture couture. He’s not only created pieces for the biggest celebrities, but he’s also draped champions in almost every generation and sport. He’s been in and out of retirement to make one unforgettable piece after the next, including a jacket for every Lakers’ three-peat.

The biggest Hamilton creation with a permanent spot in pop culture is from the 2001 win. Kobe Bryant was wearing the Hamilton jacket when he was photographed heartbroken with the Larry O’Brien trophy in the locker room. Shaq had his own version of that jacket he was photographed in at the time.
Shaquille O’Neal also has more Hamilton creations in his closet, including a version of the 2003 three-peat one similar to the Brickell Boys gift. His kids have access to them because Shareef often relives fond memories through them.
Lakers jackets hold special memories for Shaq’s son
Shareef was born in Los Angeles in January 2000 while the Lakers were making a deep run for their first title since Magic Johnson was still around. A three-peat followed and Jeff Hamilton commemorated each championship with custom designed jackets to each Laker.

Shareef dusted out the 2002 three-peat jacket when the Lakers beat the Nets in 2020 for a touching reason. He was missing his ‘uncle’ and mentor, Kobe Bryant who had passed away with Gianna earlier that year. Despite Shaq and Kobe disagreements, Bryant was close to the O’Neal family and regularly checked in on his kids. Shareef shared that tribute on his social media in a since deleted post with a picture of Bryant in his own 2002 jacket.

Jeff Hamilton, most recently, created another special jacket for Shaq when the Orlando Magic retired his jersey earlier this year. Shareef and the whole family were present when the team presented Superman with the jacket highlighting all his accolades in Orlando at the ceremony.
Thanks to the Brickell Boys, Shareef might have his own version of his dad and uncle’s jackets soon. We’re waiting for that fit check soon.
