It’s a well-known fact that Shaquille O’Neal is a business mastermind. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has stepped up in this retirement phase to continue earning through his business investments. At the same time, his stint as an owner or a board member is also something to look out for. On October 2023, Shaq was announced as the first President of Reebok’s basketball operations. These are big shoes to fill, considering that the multi-billion-dollar company is striving to regain its place in the NBA market. However, Shaq has a helping hand in this journey and it is none other than his 24-year-old son.

Shareef O’Neal, a young hooper who played for the Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team, is now unofficially a part of Shaq’s Reebok crew. The 24-year-old youngster shared an update on his Instagram“Guys, I’ve been working alongside my father with rebranding Reebok brand.. and we will get it back to the top.” The brand was the exclusive outfitter for 29 NBA teams almost a decade ago, but as of late 2023 reports, the brand has no players signed exclusively. With the big names at work, Reebok might hope to see a shift.

Shareef then added, “I WILL BE HOOPING AGAIN, I know I have been missing and haven’t been posting what I’m doing but I did not stop! I will be back soon just want to help out my dad.” With Shaq as the President and Allen Iverson as the Vice President for the Reebok brand, this would be a perfect chance for Shareef to start his business career. However, he does not want to eliminate his dream to hoop in the NBA soon. Also, it’s been quite a while since Shareef stepped foot on the court. We can say that from his updates on social media.

When was the last time Shareef O’Neal played professional basketball?

Shareef’s last update on his basketball stint was several months ago. It has been nearly 33 weeks since the 24-year-old posted a basketball mixtape of his. This could give us a picture that he has taken a short break from the game. However, he assured his fans today that he has been working on his game silently. Anyhow, coming to his professional career, the break is quite long.

Shareef spent three seasons in college. He played for the UCLA Bruins in his sophomore year, after undergoing heart surgery, and later 2 more years for the LSU Tigers to complete his collegiate career. He did not shine much in college basketball, but he got a chance to play in the NBA’s G-League Ignite in 2022. In the 2022-23 season, Shareef played a total of 20 games, in which he averaged, 5.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1 assist. He even played a few games for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Summer League in 2022; recording a shot 44.4 percent from the floor.

So it’s been a while since the young hooper played some serious basketball. Anyhow, with the above update, he might return to the court soon; more so, after having said, “I wanna play basketball so bad,” prior to G- League.
