You know it’s a crazy trade when ESPN’s senior insider confirms his news twice. After breaking the news about Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis’ trade, Shams Charania added, “Yes, this is real…” and a few hours later, “It’s 1000% real.” The shock value of this trade transcends beyond the basketball community. Shaquille O’Neal was playing a DJ gig when he got the news and announced the signing amid the show. Even his son finds it hard to understand the news.

“🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: “The Dallas Mavericks are trading Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Three-team deal that includes Utah.” (via @shamsnba).” Shareef O’Neal shared the post of Swish Cultures and added “omg” on his Instagram story. A similar reaction from people all around the globe.

The public comment did not stop at the O’Neal junior. Even the Big Aristotle had to pause his show at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. When Shaquille O’Neal got the news, he took the microphone in his hand and addressed the crowd with one of the biggest shockers of the NBA trade history. An IG user shared a story, “I caught him saying Luka Doncic is a Los Angeles Laker now.” Caught off guard,  of how to react to it, the legend laughed it out.

To confirm the event, Shaquille O’Neal re-shared the story on his Instagram. It seems the 4x NBA Champion was happy with the news as he smiled in the story. But we will truly know his thoughts later when he actually speaks about it. However, other former players have already made an opinion about the trade.

Shaquille O’Neal’s former teammates have mixed reactions to the Lakers Mavs trade

Both the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers trade shook the world in a three-team trade. Kendrick Perkins, an ESPN analyst first stated,  “WTF!!!!!” A few minutes later, still in disbelief added, “Man @ShamsCharania account has to be fu–ing Hacked.” Later stated how Dallas was the eventual winner in the trade, “Dallas won the trade. AD and Kyrie are going to be special…” But his former Celtics teammate had the opposite reaction.

Paul Pierce, along with Perkins and Shaquille O’Neal, once played in the Boston franchise. Pierce added, “LeBron and Luka I don’t see fitting.” Another Shaq teammate, but this time the Heat legend Dwyane Wade was apparently in love with the trade. He added his own gif, “I love this.”

It’s been hours since the announcement, but the shock waves are still traveling. Doncic is targeting February 8th for his return as per NBA Insider Marc Stein. And his anticipated game against the Mavs is scheduled for 25th February. But only time will tell if the most talked about trade in recent times has gone the way teams wanted it to be.
