Shaq-a-licious gummies: a slam dunk or a candy foul? What's your take on Shaq's sweet venture?

Gummies quickly became Shaquille O’Neal‘s favorite treat while he was in Germany. The locals boast of having some of the best candies in the world. So, when he received the opportunity to collaborate with Hershey’s, Shaq knew exactly what to do. Channeling his creative spirit, he approached the team at Hershey’s with his idea. As a result, we see the creation of huge XL gummies named Shaq-a-licious. However, the fans’ feedback hasn’t been as enthusiastic as expected.

Promotions have been bigger than ever. In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, the Los Angeles Lakers legend heavily promoted the gummies. He also made a grand appearance at a Walmart for the gummies. For those who don’t know, these gummies will be sold exclusively in Walmart. Some have even heavily praised the product on X.

The Big Aristotle was more involved with production than anything he had done before. Both the concept of six flavors and the design, shaped like Shaq’s face, were the NBA legend’s idea. He says that anyone who hates him can chomp on his head. And that probably will be helpful to those who have an issue with the gummies. There are two varieties of gummies, while the sour bag has pineapple, watermelon, and mixed berry flavors.

It’s not surprising that the Lakers legend had collaborated with Hershey’s. He grew up surrounded by Gummy bear factories in Germany. “I grew up in Germany around Gummy Bear Factory, so when Hershey came to me with the idea of we should do something, I was like, ‘Let’s do gummies, only Shaq-a-licious,’” Shaquille O’Neal said in an interview. But the response has been mixed so far.

How did Shaquille O’Neal’s Hershey product divide his fans?

O’Neal even transformed into a salesman, handing out packets of gummies to shoppers outside the store. While the promotional efforts successfully encouraged fans to buy and taste the gummies, some have expressed regret over their decision. A netizen wrote, “they tasted like wax and i didnt rlly like the texture and also -100 points bcs who wants to eat shaq.”

After much suspense, it was back in an interview with TMZ when he revealed the idea of collaborating with Hershey’s. He also revealed how much work and thought has been put into these gummies. “F**king shaq-a-licious are u joking me,” another fan comment read.

The flavors are also made with much thought. From peach, and orange to berry punch, these also have interesting names such as The Big Cactus, Diesel, and the Big Shamrock for his time in the Boston Celtics. But perhaps it was a bit too sweet. ” I had these, and I died of sugar intake,” one fan commented.

Did you know why the gummies are made extra large? It’s because of the Los Angeles Lakers legend, who says that he is like the biggest kid in the candy store. These gummies were inspired by Germany’s gummy bear. However, some disagree, arguing that the gummies taste nothing like that and criticizing their texture. Since it was just the idea that was inspired by the original, some changes were to be expected.

Candy lovers might not be pleased with the negative feedback, but it will be tough for O’Neal and the Hershey’s team to pinpoint the issue, as many others have praised the gummies. “My son loved them!” a netizen wrote while another wrote, “I have some shaq gummies on the night 🌙 stand they official.”

One fan wrote, “They are Shaqalicious!(they are okay. Not like “OMG these are amazing, go get some right now” but they are good.)” It seems the argument is about to turn into the one as we debate on cereal over milk or milk over cereal soon.
