Shaquille O’Neal needs no introduction. But we love what he did this time anyway. He drew from his favorite collaborators, Neotekbeats and Felmax, to release his version of “ID” on his official DJ Diesel X page. The ‘Diesel Edit’ accompanied an electrifying promotional video with Shaq quoting the main line, “Allow me to reintroduce myself.”

Apart from references to his many festival appearances and his own EDM fiesta, Bass All Stars, it was the end of the clip that made fans pause. There was a short montage of Shaq in his NBA prime interspersed with throwbacks of Myles O’Neal when he was a kid.

Among the six O’Neal kids, Myles is the only one who shares his dad’s dubstep mania and is a professional DJ himself. Both performed together several times and Myles was also a headlining DJ at Shaq’s Fun House, his Super Bowl festival. The video included several clips of Shaq and Myles travelling to EDM events and performing together.

Interestingly, it concluded with the words, “O’Neal Boys” on an image of just the two of them. It almost looks like an album art, which led to some speculation. Shaq hasn’t mentioned if Myles collaborated in the “Neotekbeats x Felmax – ID (diesel edit)” track. Perhaps they’re working on something in the near future.

The O’Neal Boys are coming

There’s definitely something coming from the O’Neal Boys. Now that the Chiefs and 49ers are Super Bowl-bound, Shaq’s Fun House is confirming its lineup of headliners. Returning to the show is DJ Myles O’Neal fresh off his latest song release, “Naked.” He’s performing on Friday, February 9, with his dad as well as Diplo, Lil Wayne, and DJ Irie in Las Vegas’ XS Night Club.

While Shaq, who reiterates he’s not at the level of EDM titans like Diplo, led his EDM ventures like an all-female edition of Bass All-Stars in Denver, Myles’ DJ career was thriving too. In recent history, he performed at Beatport among other winter gigs.

Shaq’s eldest daughter, Taahirah, has his entrepreneurial interests. Shaq, however, loves that he can share his late second act in the EDM world with Myles. The “Dubstep Dad” said they’re each other’s sounding boards and trade songs. Shaq even bought Myles his first DJ set and was awed with how he naturally took to music. “I’m actually jealous, he’s really good,” Shaq admitted. It’s not only Myles’ talent but also his “DJ Hair” that Shaq envies.
