NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal impulsively expanded his car collection following professional jealousy. From treating his parents to a $150,000 Mercedes to owning an expensive Rolls, O’Neal has got them all. However, during a candid discussion with comedian Desi Banks, ‘The Big Diesel’ shared how he saw Banks perform burnouts. Something persuaded him to drive to the dealership the very next day. What is it that made O’Neal expand his colossal car collection despite already owning two of the same model?
After witnessing professional actor and comedian Desi Banks do a series of burnout in his Dodge Charger Hellcat, Shaquille O’Neal got himself a new Hellcat. However, the reason for the big purchase wasn’t because he was impressed. O’Neal, who has a long history of turning professional jealousy into a catalyst for personal achievements, found himself unexpectedly moved by Banks’ demonstration of his Hellcat’s power.
“I got the Hellcat because of you. I ain’t gonna bullsh*t. I am like, I don’t even want to get no DI, but when you pulled up and did the burnout… I bought it because of you,” O’Neal confessed.

Shaq didn’t let his competitive nature rest. While Banks’s Hellcat remains stock, ‘The Big Diesel’ went the extra mile by adding a few mods to his Hellcat, boosting its horsepower to 1400. That is a lot for an American Muscle. That’s almost close to one of the fastest production cars like the Bugatti Chiron, which produces up to 1479 horses.
The Dodge Charger boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI engine which produces up to 707 horsepower, sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in just about 3.6 seconds. The Hellcat is not just a speed demon; it’s a statement on wheels, embodying the brute force of the American muscle. Of course Shaq would have it in his collection.
The 4x champion’s collection spread to over 30 cars as of 2023. Each, from modified trucks to sports cars, symbolizes his evolution from NBA star to businessman. However, O’Neal’s Hellcat is one-of-a-kind, bespoke, and made according to his liking.

Shaquille O’Neal’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody is a standout piece in his car collection. Customized by Forbes Performance, this Charger has been their 3 project for the Los Angeles Lakers legend. Modifications include a custom hood, air intake, illuminated red SRT badge, and red daytime and underbody lights. The rear license plate features the “Shaq face meme” from his appearance on “Hot Ones,” adding a playful element.
Shaq isn’t limited to only one Hellcat but owns three. For his 50th birthday, he treated himself to a special custom silver and red Dodge Charger Hellcat. This particular model featured scissor doors and a distinctive “Diesel Dog Mafia” logo on the hood, producing about 800 horsepower. Another of his Chargers is known as “The Halshaq,” which is a custom-built 2022 Dodge Charger Widebody. Forbes Performance designed this series of customized Chargers for O’Neal.
“Hold on that’s my s**t?” Shaq had remarked when he received his third car after modification. “@djericforbes does it again,” he further wrote on Instagram, showcasing his new addition. An impulse buy out of jealously, sure, but Shaq ensured to let his distinctive approach shine in the process.
