Between a generational basketball career and fledging business, there are many things to like about Shaquille O’Neal. However, for most people, the obvious choice is his generosity.?Perhaps, the best example of this is his attitude toward shoes. The latest show of generosity came about at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles. During a visit to the organization’s basketball court, the 51-year-old undertook a special endeavor. For each made basket, he gave the kids brand-new Reebok shoes.

While most athletes tend to engage in some acts of charity, it is O’Neal’s wholehearted dedication to the cause that separates him from the rest. Rather than just typical donations and foundations, which he does plenty of, Shaq also goes out of his way to provide for the needy.

While athletes tend to sign increasingly lucrative deals for signature shoes, he went a different route. Instead of big-money deals for pricey shoes, the Los Angeles Lakers legend chose to have premium shoes at low cost.

Famously, these shoes were even on display at Walmart. But, with his recent acquisition of Reebok, there were doubts about his future business model. However, in one fell swoop, the big man has silenced all doubters. And he just extended that generosity during his recent visit to the Boys & Girls Club.

After one girl made a free throw, the 4x NBA Champion made a major announcement. This time around, it was a $20,000 donation to the club to provide help in efforts.

In a long list of such generosities, this might be another feather in the cap of Shaquille O’Neal.

During his time away from the game, the former MVP has made a reputation for his generosity. Whether it be helping out a random woman at Home Depot or his affordable line of sneakers costing less than $100 a pair, Shaq leaves no stone unturned to help the community.

That heart of gold has also been the recipe for his business success. While he diversifies his interests, his ability to please and gel with people really helps him succeed on that front.
