If you’ve been following their journey, you might remember that back in August 2024, Gil popped the question to the YouTuber before one of the most romantic spots imaginable—the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

In a delightful twist, Melli surprised Gilbert with an engagement ring too! Gilbert couldn’t resist sharing his excitement with fans: “@mellimonaco surprised me with an engagement ring… Got me feeling like a #Baddie. City Boys, they’re giving us engagement rings now.” It was only a matter of time for their I Do’s. And now that the moment is here, the stars from the NBA community cannot contain their excitement and joy for the couple.

“Congratulations 🎊,” Shaunie Henderson wrote in the comments. Not many might know this but Shaunie and Arenas had been family friends for quite some time. Gil’s ex, Laura Govan, once even alleged that Shaquille O’neal’s ex-wife plotted to remove her from the Basketball Wives for Arenas and his fiance. Interestingly, even the 3x All-Star reportedly had his differences with Henderson, but they seemed to have reconciled.

Yet another friend writing, “Congratulations,” on the wedding post was Larry Hughes Sr. He played in the same backcourt with Gil in Washington before coming to the Cavaliers in the offseason. As per ex-Wizards star Etan Thomas, on Basketball News, Hughes had a calming effect on Gilbert Arenas. But there was also a friendly rivalry between Hughes and the 3x All-Star at one point.

“When we come into battle, it will be fun… We’re able to talk a little bit, get each other going. It’s fun to trash talk to your friends,” Hughes once said. It must be wholesome now for him to see his friend start a new journey in his life.

Jackson, however, writing “Congrats,” on Gil’s wedding post makes it seem it’s all water under the bridge. Among multiple other names who gave their best to the couple were Dwight Howard, JR Smith, Jalen Rose, Mark Jackson, and Kendrick Perkins.

And it was only natural for Gil’s crew to extend their best wishes. “TUFF LOVE!!!!!! 🦴❤️” Jennings wrote in the comments. Josiah Jackson, meanwhile, wrote, “To the bride and the groom! 💙” Having been together for hundreds of episodes, the two will now have to share their bud with his new partner. And it seems they couldn’t be any happier doing this.
