Shaquille O’Neal’s Daughter Makes ‘Involuntary Trip’ to $374 Million Location on First Day of 2024

Taahirah O’Neal was in the house to see her hometown team win 136-113. Since she’s Shaquille O’Neal’s scion, she flaunted it with the family’s signature sense of humor. The Houston Rockets delivered another blow to the Detroit Pistons in front of the home crowd at Toyota Center on January 1, 2024. Taahirah is part of the home crowd, somewhat voluntarily.

The 27-year-old revealed her presence at the game on her Instagram Stories. She flaunted the Jumbotron’s view and her beverage with the $374 million worth of arena’s label. It went with a funny caption. “Never been here voluntarily. It’s interesting.” 

Interesting indeed. You’d think Shaq’s daughter has been to her fair share of basketball courts. But the voluntary part is the kicker.

Most of Shaq’s six children are based in Houston. Taahirah and her mother, Arnetta Yardbourgh, are also Houston residents. Both are independent entrepreneurs with local businesses in H-Town. Perhaps Taahirah isn’t the greatest fan of the Rockets. After all, the Hakeem Olajuwon-led team cut Shaq’s path to the 1995 NBA championship.

Shaq’s younger children with his ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson, also reside in Houston. Shaqir and Amirah attend Texas Southern University. Yet it was a friend she ran into instead.

You couldn’t tell that Taahirah has had a long New Year. She had backstage access to Shaq’s appearance at the Lights All Night music festival in Dallas. He performed till about three in the morning. She showed off his sets, including one inspired by her, and was radiating Big Diesel energy on stage too.

She was able to ‘steal’ her mom’s leather jacket and make it to the Houston Rockets game on time too. She didn’t give the story of how she ended up there but it’s probably because Houston is special to her.

Shaq and Taahirah’s Texas ties

While his job at TNT keeps Shaq in Atlanta, Texas is special to Shaq because his family is mostly based here. O’Neal expanded his businesses and philanthropy in the state and is also opening 50 units of Big Chicken Shaq in the biggest markets here. Taahirah also got in on that.

She hosted the Inaugural Miss O’Neal’s Friendsgiving Giveback at the newly opened Big Chicken in Richmond. “With the area central to my hometown of Houston, I invited all my friends and family to enjoys all the BIG FOOD, BIG FLAVOR, and BIG FUN  the restaurant provides,” she wrote on Instagram. Her event benefited a local nonprofit for underprivileged families.

She recently returned to the same restaurant for a lesson on operations. Taahirah simultaneously runs her own wellness and fashion business partnerships in the Houston area. Her busy schedule could be why she doesn’t go to the Toyota Center often.
