People all over the world are celebrating Black History Month. However, it is always a few words of faith and gratitude that resonate with the people and truly connect us. This sentiment was recently described by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal‘s eldest daughter, Taahirah. In a touching message, the 27-year-old emphasized the significance of taking moments to express her thankfulness. Taahirah made a recent appearance on the podcast show “Do I Know You,” where she not only shed light on the historical importance of the month but also spoke about the crucial act of expressing gratitude to the ancestors and their efforts.

“We are our ancestors’ wildest dreams, and I think of that everyday when I wake up. When I look at myself in the mirror, I go wow. Not to put pressure on myself but I really said that as a gratitude.” Taahirah went on to share some insight into the O’Neal family history. “The O’Neals were sharecroppers at Dublin Georgia, and to go from that to where we are now, to how we are considered now, is such a blessing… Thank you for all the sacrifices. Look where we are now.”

Shaquille O’Neal and Draymond Green had the same thought for the Black History Month

Last year, Draymond Green had an odd request to get rid of Black History Month. However, it’s not odd if you listen to his intention behind it. A clip featuring Green showed him suggesting getting rid of the shortest month and instead emphasizing a more holistic celebration of Black History.

Th 2017 DPOY stated that instead of a particular month of February, it should be celebrated the whole year. “Not get rid of black history like they’re trying to do. But black history month? Nah…Teach my history from January 1st to December 31st and then do it again and then again and then again and then again. That’s what I like to see,” the 4x NBA champion explained.
